What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Player feedback is important and that doesn't happen without user interaction. I need more players interacting with this game so I can hear their thoughts. Being able to have players churn through the nearly completed version of the game will really help me define the "fun" aspects and turn down the "not so fun" aspects of the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Hopefully not too long. I'd like to think that around the fall or winter of 2021 I'd release the full version. Perhaps even sooner than that if everything goes smoothly.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

  • I'd like to have a more robust crafting system and perhaps an alchemy system as well.
  • Ideally have all the bugs worked out.
  • All Monster summoning shrines will be available.
  • All spells and Skills will be available and more fleshed out.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core game loop is established all the way to the end of the game.
Players will be able to:
  • Explore 99% of the map with the exception of a few areas.
  • Shape your own gameplay by slaying various monster types which coincide with the Nemesis System. The more foes you kill of a particular Monster Type, the harder the enemies become of that same type, as well as the quality of the loot they drop.
  • Gather Resources for crafting various weapons and armor at the Blacksmith, especially useful if you get stuck in a rut and can't find better gear to progress in the game.
  • Complete quests given by the various NPCs to give you Exp, Loot, Gold, and New Spells.
  • Build your Character your own way by buffing certain spells and Leveling up your different weapon types which in turn increase your damage and unlock new abilities with that weapon type.
  • Complete the entire storyline of the game including the final boss.
Mostly the early access version just has a handful of bugs that I'm aware of and some that I'm not aware of. All gameplay mechanics minus some spells are available.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, I plan on increasing the price slightly upon releasing the final version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Anyway that I can. I will be discord for Q/A's and going through emails, looking at suggestions from players on how the experience can be improved when possible.
You can reach me here:
I can sometimes be found in my discord channel but I'll announce times if I do a Q/A in there.”

About This Game

Dragon's Bane is a retro RPG for the 90's kid in us all.

Adventure into the Forsaken Lands and engage in turn based combat with the foes you encounter. Be weary, as the Nemesis system will draw increasingly more difficult enemies in the longer you farm their area! Build your Mage Knight as you see fit with the classless character building system. Whether you choose to fight by the blade or use magic, your skills will constantly progress as you use them. Loot weapons, armor, and items during your adventures and craft armor and weapons at the blacksmith from the various ores you find in these twisted lands.

Foil the Cultists' plot to summon a world ending dragon before it's too late.

Set Infusions:

Ever needed the last piece of an item set to drop but you just couldn't seem to find it? Set Infusions have made this a thing of the past by allowing you to find Set Essences in the world and infusing their power with any piece of equipment you want, bringing gear customization to a new level.

Classless Character Building:

How you play your character is how it will progress. As you discover and use spells your Magic Level will increase, boosting your magical abilities. If you decide to fight with weapon and shield then you'll gain proficiency with that weapon and your shield, increasing your damage/block and unlocking new weapon specific abilities! You'll gain Attribute Points and Skill Points to bolster your stats and Spell talents as you see fit!

Once you unlock crafting at the blacksmith you'll be able to craft powerful armor and weapons from the various ores and materials you'll surely find on your journey! Some items drop early on in the game and can be built upon to form a more powerful version once enough materials are collected!

Nemesis System:

As you explore the Forsaken Lands you'll slay various monster types which in turn will dynamically increase the difficulty and rewards from the harder monsters that will surely come after you for killing their kin! This rewards the player for grinding areas in particular and will eventually unlock Nemesis bosses that can spawn anywhere in the zone you've been farming.

Spell Customization:

You will unlock different spells to help you on your journey through various quests you complete. Once you've unlocked a spell you will be able to spend Skill points that you acquire either through leveling or consumables found in the world to increase certain aspects of your spell! Some gear and gear sets even have added bonuses for these spell nodes.
