What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Sword and Stone currently weaves user-generated structures seamlessly with procedurally generated terrain, but hopefully this is just the start.

When finished, it will also weave in user-generated quests, npcs, maybe even items! You'll be able to host your own dedicated server with your own rules (your entire own world if you want) effectively running your own unique online RPG.

All of this, plus elven, dwarven, and other kingdoms are planned exploring both the depths below surface, and those below sea!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect the game to be in Early Access for quite some time. I want the game to feel complete when it is finished and not rely on a second game or DLCs. At least another 2-5 years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will offer additional kingdoms to construct, including one underground and another out at sea. I hope for it to also include full dedicated server support and even deeper workshop customization.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Found a new settlement for the human kingdom and expand your territory while gathering resources and crafting gear to take on the unknown challenges of a savage, procedurally generated fantasy world that seamlessly weaves in user-generated structures for a truly unique experience every time. Supports player-hosted multiplayer parties of up to 5. Each player can build their own town or work together.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price is likely to increase over time as more content is added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I have an ultimate vision for the game, but the seamless weaving of these things will require both community input and community built content. If you want to both contribute to the game design and see your structures generated in other player's worlds automatically: come take a look!”

About This Game

A savage land filled with fantastical monsters and unknown dangers awaits you, an eager adventurer, looking to build a legacy to last a thousand years. Start by founding a human kingdom, complete with guilds, shops, taverns, and more! Take on quests to earn favor from the NPCs that inhabit your towns, leveling up your abilities and unlocking meaningful gear and progression along the way. Be sure to build defenses, though, as these savage beasts can be unpredictable on a calm evening; but on a Blood Moon...well...

Key Features:

  • Huge procedurally-generated world - Explore and find the best location to found your fantasy kingdom in a massive procedural world which seamlessly weaves user-generated structures into it, providing a truly unique experience every time.
  • Co-op PvE (up to 5 players) - Go out alone or invite your friends to join. Sword and Stone supports player hosted multiplayer. Simply start the game and invite your friends! Each player can choose to build their own city, or work together!
  • Dynamic skill tree - Level up your weapons to unlock skills and spells, then choose 6 per weapon to perfect your own build.
  • Base building - Unlock new technology with each building you construct. Need food? Try a farm. Armor? Blacksmith! Need to connect your cities with portals? Better consult the mages guild!
  • Meaningful progression - Leveling up shouldn't feel useless. Expect to get meaningful increases in damage, survivability, or utility, not 1% damage bonuses.
  • Workshop support - Jump into creative and build a castle with your friends then upload it to the workshop. Other players can download it and it will seamlessly place into their world, complete with monsters and loot if you so choose.
