What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As an indie team, we have been working on Mage Noir Infinity for the last two years. We gathered hundreds of hours of playtime and feedback but we now feel we need to hear from more of you to reach the optimal level of quality we are aiming for. Our main goal is to gather more playtime data and interact with new players to confirm the design decisions we already have and find new ones with all of you.
Early access is the most optimal way to gather your point of view quickly while letting you play a bit sooner.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game should stay in early access as long as it needs to be as great as possible. This will depend on how much feedback we get and how much work needs to be done accordingly.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Once the game leaves early access, this means we’ve reached the level of production quality we’re looking for. We would like to gradually upgrade the game to get better performances, better network communication, as well as better interfaces.

In terms of features, we’d like to implement more cards, more occasions to earn them, as well as different ways to play the game. The most notable example would be a ranked mode.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We are just starting to release the game in early access.

There might be some missing features and occasional visual and functional bugs (cards not working as intended, occasional network issues or softlocks) but we’re working really hard on finding and fixing them constantly.

Other than that, the core gameplay and most of the cards are functional as intended. This means the game design and general gameplay is very close to what it’ll be in the end.

You will start by playing the tutorial version of the game to learn its mechanics.
You will then get to play matchmade games against other players, gather new cards in the shop and use them to create new decks and upgrade the decks you already have.

The game also includes a collection section to allow you to check all the cards of the game and think about the next card to craft for your favorite deck.
Concerning the cards available, only 4 of the 6 elements are playable but we hope to get those last 2 in the game soon.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will always be free to play with item selling. Regardless of whether it’s in early access or not.

As we’re working on the game to make it better, we are improving the global experience and balancing of items, and we hope we will learn a lot thanks to the early access. As a consequence, the price of some of the items and the ways to unlock content for free may change as time goes on.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The most important thing to us right now is your feedback. Either to give us your impression on the game, or to tell us about the bugs you encounter so that we can take care of them.

This means we’re very open to discussion and we closely listen to our community. The best way to discuss about the game with us would be our official discord:

About This Game

TABLETOP VERSION OF MAGE NOIR IS LIVE ON KICKSTARTER!!

Mage Noir is a strategy card game. In this dueling game, players become true Mages and fight each other with the power of the elements. The game is focused on crafting spells and is packed with fireballs, crashing waves, devastating tornadoes and powerful magical abilities, all held in the palm of your hand.

WHY PLAY MAGE NOIR?
There are a lot of reasons to play Mage Noir, but among the most interesting ones are two unique mechanics that separate it from other card games out there.*

  • THE SHARED MANA POOL
Mana is aggregated at the center of the table, every action you take will change this amount, and you’ll get to claim some of it at the beginning of your turn. But the rest may end up with your opponent, so plan accordingly. The separation of Mana from your deck also means no more failing to draw what you need to cast your spells!
  • THE SPELL CRAFTING SYSTEM
In Mage Noir, you’ll combine lesser spells to create stronger ones. The spell crafting system is simple, logical and very thematic. Will you cast your spells for immediate effects or risk saving them to combine into a game-winning combo?

WILL YOU BE THE NEXT MAGE NOIR?
