What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Forgetter is Sometimes Monastery’s first-ever game. It is an experimental project in terms of merging game experience and art experience in a spatial-narrative way. We can’t wait to show the game, collect player’s feedback and get closer to anyone who resonates with our story and art. Your fresh opinions and creative comments are very important for us to make Forgetter getting better.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to spend 3-4 months to improve the game before it’s fully released.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“additions, features, and overall scope you would like to achieve, but do not make specific promises about future events (e.g. when the game will be finished, that the game will be finished, or that planned future additions will definitely happen).

The full version of Forgetter will run much smoother on a technical level. The gameplay will be better balanced to result in a more engaging experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version currently has a complete game experience. It is fully playable, mostly bug free. The main level, story and play is fully defined and implemented right now, but we are still working full time to optimize and polish everything.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“In order to show our gratitude towards early supporters, we are setting the early release price lower than that of the fully released version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Forgetter is as much a game project as an art one. We are eager to hear from our players about their experience (both in and out side of the game). We are constantly collecting these valuable comments and stories, and thinking about ways to implement them into the game and related art project. Please join our discord channel and share with us your ideas and stories.”

About This Game

WELCOME TO MINDJOB

Is turbulent life experience a rite of passage for creative people? Could you be a great artist, musician, writer without traumatic (or dramatic) life episodes?

Well, Mindjob, a high tech company proves once again that nothing is impossible. With cutting edge technology, this company recycles genius minds that belong to deceased artists, modeling them into pain-free, skill-savvy, creative wonderlands.

And you, yes you, the 114th Forgetter, are going to make this happen by joining the company and entering the mindscape to:

- explore the creative minds being recycled

- smash everything related to the artists' traumatic memories,

- including real life artworks!

- vacuum the debris and clean the mind!

- comfort the remaining consciousness left in the minds and escort them to eternal peace

This job is revolutionary! You can:

- experience the pleasure of constructive destruction!

- witness the life episodes of genius minds!

- occasionally time travel from the sweet 1980s all the way to the cursed 2010s, aka the last innocent phase of pure-human history

- be exposed to real "contemporary art" ( a school in human-art history) and enjoy its aura

- and of course, earn a handsome salary!

- Oh, and get a bonus, if you're doing a fabulous job!

DO YOUR BEST & FORGET THE REST!

*Forgetter is an exploration videogame in which the art collection from dslcollection seeps into the narrative. Set in the near future, players take up a job at a technology company as cleaners of dead artists’ brains, identifying and removing traumatic memory blocks in their minds in order to recycle their brains for newborns. Many memory blocks are constituted by Chinese contemporary artworks.

*The artworks used in this game are provided by dslcollection. Should you have any interest or inquiries about these artworks, please kindly reach out to dslcollection.

This game is made by Alan Kwan and Allison Yang Jing from Sometimes Monastery
