What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Starlight will still provide a fully playable Arcade Mode with 10 stages and a weapon shop with all the weapons unlocked towards the end (tech level).

The reason for early access is to allow us to communicate with our early adopters to learn more about what they hope to see in the full release. The invaluable feedback we'll get will help us shape the campaign mode on top of its initial plans - which is to include a Campaign mode in which players can select different missions in a mission tree to enjoy a different kind of experience.

The Arcade Mode will provide players with a no-frills unfettered experience of a shooter, though it serves as an abridged version to the actual story.

We therefore believe that in order to move forward with all these contents, we'll need players to first buy into what we offer initially; the base game and give us valuable feedback on how we can further improve the game.

Early Access adopters are also rewarded with a unique achievement that only they will receive. At full launch, the reward is visible but will no longer be awarded. This is to recognize the support from early adopters as well as their feedback.

The game at early access is considered a full game with the entire story told, albeit in an abridged format. The full release will still require players to first complete the Arcade mode before unlocking the Campaign mode. Thus at no time is the game mechanically incomplete and at no time are we unlocking features that are merely sealed by code from within.

The objectives we intend to achieve under early access:
1) Alignment of player expectations vs game vision
2) Player-based game balancing that we can gather from feedback
3) Additional quality of life user interface we might need to implement in order to streamline the game into a matured state.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly 3 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have more contents such as:

1) A full campaign mode (confirmed)
- A full campaign map interface where missions can be selected
- Completion of each mission unlocks the next mission with its side missions
- Weapon shop can be visited at any time
- Campaign mode has more intricate objectives and slightly longer game play based on the same plot but different enemies and/or patterns.
2) Additional modes such as (not confirmed)
- Survival mode
- Boss Rush mode
- Duel PvP mode”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of Early Access will contain a fully playable Arcade mode with all its 10 missions.

Arcade mode, while presents the full game, is an abridged version in terms of the story and may have some unexplained gaps between missions.

The Campaign mode will fill that gap.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The full version will be priced slightly higher due to a reasonable amount of contents added into the existing 10-stage Arcade mode.

There's also a possibility of more default player selectable ships on top of the existing unlockables.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We'll be releasing screenshots, videos of the upcoming campaign mode as well as potentially different worlds and scenery.

We'll primarily communicate with our players via the Steam Community for Starlight: Eye of The Storm and will open 3 alternative channels:
1) The Starlight: Eye of The Storm official Facebook page
2) Strides Interactive Games twitter which includes Starlight: Eye of The Storm information and media.
3) Starlight: Eye of The Storm official discord channel where users can come in and directly speak with developers on their complaints, ideas and suggestions.

We'll have a dedicated personnel on standby to always respond to any reviews, feedback and community posts to engage them so that they know they're heard.

We understood the importance of community engagement from our first title - Foresight and therefore will be ready to engage with players regardless of their review state. The purpose is to help shape the game into what general players want to play and align that with the game's vision of a Campaign mode on top of the Arcade Mode.

Our experience from Foresight actually drastically changed the game's mechanics, media and even graphics over a period of 9 months where we've gained important lessons and implemented our newfound knowledge into that game itself. The commitment will be the same for Starlight: Eye of The Storm as well.

Earth, 300 years after the devastation of the Final Nuclear War. (6 months before the events of After the experimentation of opening wormholes went awry, several massive wormholes opened up randomly near the vicinity of the already devastated Earth.

The Council of Foresight has since chosen you and 2 of your top ace pilot friends for the mission to re-establish contact with the Council on Mars. Your ships will therefore deliver the top secret communication data via the massive wormhole and to the orbit of Mars where the local government forces will be waiting.
