“The core features of the game are stable and fun already so there is no reason to not let players enjoy them. However, there are still lots of ideas for new features, content and game modes to be added before the game is called full, and the Early Access period allows the community be heard while the development continues.”

Turbo Sliders Unlimited is a spiritual successor to many classic top-down racing games, but in 3D and with modern online features and extensive customization and modding possibilities. It goes far beyond being just a racing game — it is a community-driven platform where anyone can create their own levels, vehicles, and game modes. It can be played as a serious esports game, as a fun casual game, or as a sandbox game. It can be played alone or as a multiplayer game, both locally and online.

The game has a massive number of game modes and tuning possibilities, with new ones still possibly coming. Different game modes include various forms of racing, sumo, tag, soccer, capture-the-flag, collector, and weapon battle. Main features:

Online multiplayer

  • Supports up to 20 players, plus spectators
  • Anyone can host their own public or private games with custom levels, vehicles and settings
  • All game modes supported online: racing, sumo, collector, tag, soccer, CtF, battle and their countless variations
  • Dedicated server support with server-side scripting
  • Based on authoritative server and client side prediction — perfect for esports!

Single-player game modes

  • Time Trials campaign: Race against clock or leaderboard ghosts to unlock new events
  • Race Challenges campaign: Race against AI players in special race events
  • Player made campaigns: Play campaigns made by other players, or create and share your own
  • Quick Game: Compete in multi-event racing sessions against AI players
  • Local custom game: Customize a game session to your liking — adjust levels, vehicles, event settings, AI etc.
  • Hotlapping: Beat leaderboard lap times, optionally racing against ghost recordings of other players

Local multiplayer

  • Couch gaming with up to 4 local players in split-screen
  • Possible to join or host online multiplayer games together, too

Level and vehicle creation and sharing

  • Feature-rich in-game level and vehicle editors included
  • Sharing via Steam Workshop or by automatic downloading in online games

AI Editor

  • Create and optionally share your own AI lines to new tracks and/or vehicles
  • Create and customize your own AI player groups

Camera

  • Multiple camera presets, all of which can be extensively tuned
  • Camera modes include 3rd person (close or far), 1st person, top-down, fixed position, free camera

Recording games

  • Any game can be recorded and viewed later, with options to change camera angles and playback speeds

Customization

  • Vehicle looks can be customized by changing color, paint jobs and paint properties (metallicness, smoothness)
  • It is possible to buy customization packs unlocking new colors, paint textures, more paint commands per a paint job, and more range for paint properties

Special game modes

In addition to standard racing and its variations, the game also supports various other game modes, including:

  • Parkour / platforming / obstacle course
  • Ghost race
  • Car sumo
  • Capture the Flag
  • Base infiltration
  • Battle with weapons (team vs team or free-for-all)
  • Tag game (spread or transfer tag)
  • Car soccer with 1 or up to 5 balls
  • Car "soccer" without balls (score by driving to goal)
  • Collector (shared or exclusive coins to collect)
  • Race with deadly terrain or contacts
  • Race with drafting on (tunable strength)
  • Race with weapons enabled
  • Race with fuel (refueling possible in the pit)
  • Race with tire wear (changing tires possible in the pit)
  • Team games - all game modes have team game support
