What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I have decided to develop Burn The Witch in early access because I want the game to be in the best state it possibly can be, for the sole purpose of having fun. I believe that using feedback from a community playing the game it means I can best dedicate time in the areas that will have the most impact on the players enjoyment of the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Planned release 2021, subject to change.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“More content e.g. player choice when hosting games, maps, weapons, interactions and spells as well as customisation options and unlocks.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently Burn The Witch is playable with a lot of the core features implemented.
This includes the main game mode which consists of up to 8 online players, both Peasants and Witches.
There is currently 1 map included in the early access release.
This map includes a couple of locations you can interact with as a Witch in order to help you win the game.
Theres are also a few different weapons, these includes swords, greataxes and throwing axes which all roles can make use of.
Witches have the ability to use spells, some of these include throwing fireballs, conjuring a healing ring or disguising yourself as a barrel to blend in to your surroundings.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No planned price difference.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Take feedback on additions, content and balancing that will be added to the game to shape the future of Burn The Witch.
The best way to give feedback and suggestions for future content updates is through our social media channels, such as Twitter. Keep an eye on the games homepage for more information.”

About This Game

Play as a Witch, and use your spells, as well as the environment around you, in order to aid you in your goal of ridding your village of Peasants. Or play as a Peasant, and try to discover who out of those in your village practice dark magics as Witches, before putting them to death using the various weapons you have to hand.

Witch:
Witches can do everything a Peasant can do but they also have access to a range of abilities from their spell book that they can use against the Peasants. These include, fireballs, ways to disguise yourself and heal. They can also interact with the environment in different way to help them with their goals depending on where they are in the map, for instance raising the dead in a graveyard.

Peasant:
Peasants will have to make tentative alliances and make use of the swords, axes and other weapons they find around them in order to rid their village of the Witches. As a Peasant you can talk to other players and will need to keep an eye out for any signs of the mystical arts being used before you attempt to spread the word of who cannot be trusted.
