What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access will allow an even greater level of player involvement in the development of the Break-In. The regular open playtests I have been running have already helped to shape the direction of the game, and a permanent Early Access period is a great way to continue to allow players to give their feedback and ideas before the game is in a complete state.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect the Early Access period to last anywhere from 6 months to a year, but if there is significant interest in the game, the scope may be expanded further and the Early Access period would be extended to accommodate this.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The initial Early Access release features a limited set of levels, gear, and getaway vehicles. I plan to expand upon each of these areas during Early Access, adding more challenging levels and higher-tech gear items and getaway vehicles to help players tackle them.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current game features 4 levels with randomized rooms, residents, and entry points. The current levels are focused around low-level burglary, and include suburban houses and stores, as well as a mall. There are 5 getaway vehicles to unlock, ranging from a simple bicycle to a huge RV. There are 13 gear items to help you climb, distract, knock out, and infiltrate. Across the game levels, there are over 500 different stealable items, with nearly everything in a level being stealable.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase gradually throughout the Early Access period, as more features are added and the scope and playtime of the game are increased.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will continue to engage with the community through the game's Steam Community Page and Discord server, gathering feedback and holding polls as I have done through the open alpha playtest periods. Many of the game's features have already been influenced by alpha testers, and I hope to keep this up through Early Access.”

About This Game

The Break-In is a 4 player online co-op burglary game about sneaking into houses, stores, and casino vaults to steal everything that isn't bolted down. (And maybe some of the things which are bolted down)

If you can get it into your van, you can sell it for a profit. And you can use the money you make to purchase new thief equipment, to help you take on riskier heists

Special Thief Equipment

Use a wide range of equipment to help you to extract the most valuable items from your target. Ladders and climbing picks can help you get in, then use attachable items like airbags and pistons to safely get your stolen items to your van

Other items like hammers, firecrackers, and wearable head lampshades can help you deal with any residents, either by knocking them out, distracting them, or hiding from them.

Natural climbing system

The climbing freedom gives you full freedom to get around. Clamber up drainpipes, crawl through windows, or even stealthily make your way to the roof to scout the area

Just be careful to make sure that nobody is waiting for you on the other side of the window, it's a long way down and you didn't bring a trampoline. Or maybe you did, and this is all part of your plan?

VR / non-VR crossplay

VR adds an extra layer of immersion, but you can play fully without it too! Cross-play allows you to play alongside VR players, even in non-VR mode

The keyboard and mouse controls are designed to give non VR players the same level of control as VR players

Randomised level generation

Every mission you enter has randomised room varieties including different points of entry, so you'll have to make a new plan for each place you infiltrate

NPCs are also randomised, so make sure you scout the area well before going in. You never know what might be guarding that jewelry, an angry resident, a trained guard, or a hidden camera?
