Kingso is not just a medieval 2D strategy, but a very complex game in terms of realistic mechanics where absolutely no one knows what will happen next. Each campaign can be so unpredictable that it becomes unique compared to others.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Initially, this project was not a game, and only by March 2020 it became. Up to this point, the project was a software demonstration of graphics and nothing more.

Soon the project quickly grew into a more or less game with its own mechanics and ideas. But due to too many ideas and lack of experience, the project is being developed at a slow pace.
However, one should not think that it will take too long, since the project has its own team that works on the game almost every day.

Therefore, our team believes that once the game goes into Early Access, we will be able to hear player feedback and slowly but surely bring the game to the finals.

An important point should also be noted. We are making a game that we would like to play ourselves, so the main forces of our team will be thrown into the meticulous recreation of all our ideas in the game as a whole. The task is simple: to make the basis, and then bring each mechanic separately to a finished state.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our team cannot promise anything, but we know for sure that we will not abandon this project just like that. Usually we spend several hours developing the game itself and several hours checking and debugging it. However, this does not exclude errors during the game and certainly does not speed up its development. If we see that the game will be of interest to an increasing audience, then this will motivate us to develop even faster. And of course we would not want to create a long-term construction out of the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

  • Gameplay
The gameplay of the game will gradually acquire new functions, there are many ideas about the mechanics of the game itself. This includes a complete overhaul and refinement of the game world as a whole, its interface, its atmosphere. Early Access will contain the most basic mechanics, allowing you to play, even in the rawest form of the game.

The game itself should be based on a careful study of all its mechanics in order to bring the player more and more pleasure. It takes an incredible amount of time and effort.

Basically, if any ideas and suggestions arise, they can be easily added to the game itself already in the process of further development. The power of the game engine makes it very convenient to make any changes.

  • Graphics
If we talk about the graphics of the game, then here it can be improved and optimized in various ways. In general, the graphics of the game will not change much, but rather will be supplemented in detail and become more and more in demand. As already mentioned in the paragraph "Gameplay", the emphasis is on a strong elaboration, therefore, the graphics in the game over time should be heavily modernized and redrawn. For this, an accompanying optimization will be created, for different system settings, which already copes well with its tasks.

But much of the 2d style cannot be obtained purely technically. The maximum of everything will be between a good and understandable picture and atmosphere, style.

  • Bugs and errors
From the very beginning of Early Access, there will be bugs in the game. Due to the tight development schedule, some erroneous lines remained in the engine code itself, which causes errors, but the user will not even be able to feel them in the game, or will feel them in their easiest form. As we get closer to the final version of the game, these errors will gradually be eliminated, and the balance of the game will gradually take shape.

  • User content
At the moment, the game itself already has several development tools. Due to the engine's ease of use, it can be used to resolve any issue. This is all in its raw form now, and I would like to add more convenient tools that will help users create additional content for the game, this will also link the game with Steam services and help the game grow.

From the main it is planned: a map editor, an editor of objects and characters, an interface editor, an audio editor and what is already being implemented - these are means of translation into different world languages.

  • Steam support
Very little can be said about the possibilities on Steam. Kingso will integrate more with Steam over time and therefore make more use of its features. Among the most in demand at the present time: the SDK of the game, the function of saving in the Steam Cloud, support for statistics and achievements, as well as Steam game cards.

Most likely, if the "User Content" item works, then it will be possible to create a special page in the Steam Workshop, and then add additional SDKs for the subsequent development of fan add-ons to the game.

  • Game modes
The idea behind this element is very old, and now it remains in the state of concept.
Closer to the release of the full-fledged final version of the game, it is planned to add various modes for multiplayer games. The game already implements different styles of play by type: FFA, PVP and others.

  • Conclusion
The game, if possible, will be significantly expanded in all directions.
All efforts of our team will be spent on this.
We will definitely keep in touch with the players and work side by side whenever possible.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Kingso has a stable team, its main developers. The game is also supported by ordinary people, fans, which significantly speeds up the development of the final versions of the game.

The main part of the game is roughly ready for the start of Early Access. This means that the original idea of the game has already been implemented, but in its raw form. Looking closer to the finale, this includes a lot of elaboration of the world around the player.
At the moment, we are gradually moving in this direction, carefully creating one mechanic after another.

If you need more information on this issue, you can watch any media files about the game Kingso itself (screenshots, videos, reviews, other questions about early access to the game on Steam), or by purchasing the game itself.

You can also find ways to communicate directly with us and the gaming community.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The questions about the price of the game are very funny. The Kingso game itself was not initially planned at all, let alone a sale. Our development team and a few people who help in the development of this project, have a good life experience and work with pure enthusiasm.

Consequently, the price of the game will be insignificant, and its purchase will be available to anyone in the world, that is, it will cost as something simple in our world, like a simple dinner in some restaurant. We do not plan to change the price for this game, it will always be constant, fixed.

As mentioned above, our team makes a game that we ourselves would like to play, the quality and feedback from other people on this matter are important to us.
Therefore, Kingso will not be able to change in price from time to time. Unless the global market crashes. ;)

This most likely does not apply to DLC and other additions to the game. Although, again, most of the updates will be free to the main part of the game. Other additions can be made by the players themselves, if necessary.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“About the gaming community. Our team is ready to communicate directly with their players. If there are suggestions or new ideas, we are ready to listen to them through any source of information. The best way to do this is through the IndieDB site, where you can fully discuss any development issues for the final game, or, as one good option, contact us via Steam or mail.

It is best to communicate in English or Russian.”
