What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Community involvement & feedback is critical to the development of Animaze, as it was for FaceRig. Early Access allows us to continue improving Animaze with critical input from you, our community. Feedback from our recent beta resulted in the immediate prioritization and addition of several features for Early Access launch. During Early Access we will continue to expand Animaze’s feature set; getting feedback from an engaged community will help us build what you want and need.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“We expect Animaze to be in Early Access for approximately 6 months. We’ve identified a set of features that we want to implement for Animaze to reach v1.0. With the input from Early Access, we will refine that list. Once every feature on the list is released, we’ll have made it to v1.0.

Animaze is an evergreen platform that will continue to evolve and improve long after v1.0 is released. This is only the beginning of our journey working with you to make Animaze the best it can be!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Here are some of the features we are currently planning to add to Animaze during Early Access:

  • .VRM Support: import .VRM files and use them as Animaze avatars
  • Avatar Retexturing: re-design any Animaze avatar’s textures to create a unique ‘skin’ of that avatar
  • Audio-Based Lip Sync: animate your avatar’s mouth with the sound of your speech.
  • Additional Background Types and Customizations: layered 2D backgrounds that allow you to place elements in front of and behind avatars, as well as react to tracking input
  • A few more surprises :)

We’ll also be implementing a ton of incremental improvements to stability, performance, and tracking/embodiment quality, and adding new avatars and props, during Early Access. The Animaze Editor and our artist documentation will expand to include more varied and detailed tutorials (including support in additional languages), enabling artists to develop their own custom avatars and props much more easily.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Animaze has a full suite of features allowing you to livestream, video chat, and record videos as avatars. A sizable roster of avatars (both 2D and 3D) and props are already included. All 3D avatars and props can be customized extensively. Advanced embodiment controls allow you to fine-tune your avatars’ movements and behavior to create an embodiment profile that is tailored to you.

The current Early Access version also includes voice effects, enhanced face tracking via our iPhone app (iPhone X and up), a secondary capture window, an account system to manage your avatars across PC and iPhone, hotkeys, and support for many languages. During Early Access, we will add breadth and depth to Animaze’s feature set and content library with a focus on deeper customization and supporting additional formats for custom avatars and props (though these will not be our sole areas of focus).”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not have plans to change the prices within Animaze after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community input is absolutely critical to making Animaze the best it can be. We are planning to release new versions of Animaze every month or so during Early Access. After each release we will pour over community feedback, as well as survey and interview our community to see how we can continue to improve Animaze.

We strongly recommend joining our Discord server so you can chat directly with us and other community members in real-time. We absolutely love connecting with our community there. If Discord is not your thing, we also respond to most and log all feedback and suggestions that come through support emails (support@animaze.us), Twitter, Steam forums and reviews.”
