Why Early Access?

“Project Prison is playable today, and the core of the game is in: dealing, crafting, smuggling, hiring a crew, gang wars and fights. Early Access lets us build the rest with the players. Your feedback decides which systems get deeper and what content comes next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Project Prison has been in regular playtesting since early 2024, and Early Access is the next step. I expect it to last around 6 months. Progress and the roadmap will be posted in the news section.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Three big goals for full release:
  • Co-op: run your empire with a friend
  • A grittier, more real prison: better animations across the board, so every fight, deal and walk through the yard feels raw and believable.
  • Improved graphics
  • Stories that are yours: I’m a writer, and the goal is a prison where every run turns into a story. Characters with history, choices that come back to bite you, and moments you’ll want to tell your friends about.
Plus more contraband, more jobs and more of the prison to explore, with achievements and cloud saves.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Everything in the description is in the game and playable. As with any Early Access game, expect rough edges; we patch reported bugs regularly.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price will be increased after launch.”

About This Game

Start Start small. Run the prison.

You arrive with nothing. Work the dispensary job and push pills to whoever is buying. Brew hooch, press pills and roll cigars on your own machines. Move your product past drones, dogs and cops, put other inmates on your payroll, and grow from a small-time dealer into the man the whole prison answers to.

Key Features

  • Craft contraband: hands-on machines. Pour, mix, crank and press every batch yourself. Hit the recipe and your product sells for more.

  • Sell to anyone: every inmate wants something. Make the deal, haggle the price, and find the buyers who pay the most.

  • Smuggle it through: drones, dogs and guards watch the prison. Hide your goods and pick your route.

  • Hire a crew: put inmates to work on your machines and grow your business.

  • Gang wars: several gangs control the turf and the trade. Earn their respect, take their jobs, or become their target.

  • Brutal fights: close-quarters brawling with combos, wall slams and finishers. When the gangs come for you, you fight.

  • Prison life: eat, sleep, train in the gym, play volleyball, cards and checkers in the yard, and keep your needs in check.
