Why Early Access?

“This game is in early access because it delivers a continuously advancing and growing experience at the expense of bugs that one would otherwise not experience in a complete game.

It features many experimental game mechanics and systems unique to this game, and as such it is essential for us to receive feedback from the community to balance and refine them to perfection.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Based on the current rate of development and remaining tasks planned before full release, I estimate full release to be around Fall of 2021.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The early access version features peer-to-peer multiplayer combat, with a focus on a single-player experience to both introduce the player to the unique combat experience that Shuuji has to offer, and provide a leveling system for players to hone their skills in preparation for dedicated-server-based tournaments.

The full version will have online matchmaking, ranking, skins for weapons, and gamemodes outside of deathmatch.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of this version is a mostly functional Sigil design platform, and a WIP multiplayer world. All features shown in videos exist in game, and will be made available on early-access once they are tuned to an acceptable robustness and quality.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“This game will initially be free in early access, and may increase to some small reasonable number later in early access.

Pricing may increase moderately when upon release. However, as monetization will be centered around aesthetics and quality settings (such as skins on weapons, background art, and audio enhancement), after release, regardless of updates, pricing will remain constant.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“TO become a member of the Shodō Early Access Community, you can join the Official Shodō Development discord, at discord.gg/BTQTq5n

We have a feedback channel for bug reports and questions, as well as a suggestions channel for suggestions to add new content, or accessibility features that may have been overlooked.

Through this channel, members can directly communicate with the developers, and voice chat with meetings set up beforehand.”

Note: This game is very much alpha. All features shown in gameplay are currently accessible, and playable. However it is still pretty buggy, so heads up!

Shodō is a VR game where players fight in a 5v5 battle of chaos magic, in the martial art of their own design.

In this universe you must work for your power. No cheap fireballs, no facerolling, no mana resource to constrain you.

The raw power of your Sigil is dependent on both how complex it is, and how accurately you can execute it in the heat of battle.

Build your magic art to match your personality - do you like fast paced, rapid attacks that overwhelm your enemy? Opt for flow casting, which minimizes casting time and maximizes attack rate.

Or perhaps you would rather forge a weapon no other can destroy, that will instantly kill whatever it touches - at the expense of an intricate, complex sigil.

Enter the world of Shodō and experience for yourself, psychic abilities that come at a real mental cost. Become the protagonist, the master of your art, and carve your path into the history of this environment of controlled chaos.
