布莱恩博士，重新发现刻印魔法的天才科学家，死于一场神秘事故。多年后，博士唯一的女儿，伊尔米娜努力成为狱警踏上监狱岛，以调查父亲死亡的真相。只有能适应魔法的人才能成为狱警，而至今为止所有匹配的特异者都是男性。但令人震惊的奇迹出现了，伊尔米娜也表现出了对魔法的适应性，这让她成为了全国第一位女狱警。

然而作为全是男人的岛上唯一的女性，伊尔米娜此后的处境只会越发艰难。狱警肆无忌惮地控制着整个岛，他们的话就是法律……伊尔米娜能否解开自己追寻的谜团？而这会让她付出什么样的代价？

虽然为了成为狱警伊尔米娜已经学习多年，但书本上学到的东西和岛上实际应用的东西还是有所差别的。她必须顺藤摸瓜进入管理层核心，投其所好和警卫狱警搞好关系，以从他们那里得到自己找寻真相所必须的线索，才能解开父亲的死亡之谜。

不少时候问题都得通过战斗解决，当然，伊尔米娜的新刻印魔法也会派上用场。她不但能用无属性魔法对所有敌人造成伤害，甚至还是全属性法师——这意味着她能掌握所有属性的魔法并应用它们……只要她能承受更强大的刻印魔法！

惨烈的故事
监狱岛的警卫和狱警都是无法无天之徒，他们为达目的不择手段，残暴且不可理喻。整个岛上因此也充斥着弱肉强食的氛围，所有人都狂热且仇视所有竞争对手。在这样的职场环境中，天真的新人伊尔米娜能否适应？她必须要从食物链的最低端一点点爬到更高的位置。

猖獗的鉴于暴力
监狱岛是与世隔绝的群岛，关押着许多罄竹难书的罪犯，但有时监视罪犯的人和罪犯看起来也并无区别。所有警卫都肆无忌惮地使用刻印魔法尽情折磨和谋杀囚犯，而他们这样的行为却不会受任何惩罚。伊尔米娜父亲遗留下来的刻印魔法每天都在被这些人滥用。
