Why Early Access?

“The game can be accessed earlier on, for people eager to play the starting zones, and want to follow closely as the game unfolds.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We do not have an exact date yet, but we estimate that in the second half of 2021 the game approaches a content depth of several days to play through. An upcoming patch will unlock the hardcore mode. The hardcore mode offers no respawn, or very few.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We anticipate to keep developing the game for at least another year. Development started in late 2015, and we see this game as a long time commitment. Thus, the full version will contain more content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable and stable.

  • Most game features are setup.
  • The starting zone is in a playable state.
  • The game offers about five percent of the planned content.

  • Three small dungeons
  • One procedural generated dungeon
  • Two main village hubs in different regions

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, when Early Access ends the pricing of the full version will reflect a game priced in accordance with the launch content. Early Access will be more affordable, not only because there is less content, but also for the trust customers demonstrate when deciding to buy EPICA.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We follow social media and what people have to say on our Discord server about the game. If there is enough demand we will add a ticket system for people who want to offer critical input. In general, the game is designed for experienced players who seek a challenge.”

About This Game

Epica is a role-playing game, set in a fantasy world. Embark on a journey which will take you to unique regions, each with new quests, puzzles, and space to explore. Compete with other players for rank one on the ladder.

State of Game

Almost all game systems have been updated in 2022, the game has also been modified for multiplayer. The current work focus is to add updated and new content. Later in 2023 we will proceed with setting up a server for the multiplayer experience.

Default Keybindings

Customize your keys from the game settings menu, accessible through the ‘Key’ panel. The default keyboard shortcuts are:

Movement - WASD / Left Mouseclick
Movement speed - Caps Lock
Jump - SPACE

The hotbar contains eight slots, which can be used to assign inventory consumables, or usable items such as food. Inventory items can be dragged and dropped onto the desired hotbar slot, and moved / removed, by right-clicking a slot icon.

The hotbar default slot keybindings use the numbers 1 to 8, which can be differently configured inside the game settings, under the ‘Key’ panel.
