Why Early Access?

“The goal for "Destiny of the World" is to create a game that captures the major elements of World War II, but still allows exploration of "what if's". And those "what if's" should include whole world as a palette.

The game includes production, combat, supply, research, espionage, and trade. With this large of a scope, balancing the economy and combat, and improving the AI will benefit from input from players. Players can also give feedback on which features are enjoyable or need improvement, or suggest features that might make the game more fun and help shape the final experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in Early Access for at least six months, but it could last substantially longer, depending on feedback from players. It will be extended as long as needed to produce a polished product, and to complete development of any new features.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version WILL have bugs. You should not purchase during Early Access if you are expecting the game to be bug-free. It is possible that "Save Game" Files created during Early Access may not work with new incremental builds, so you should plan that when new builds are released, it may "break" old saved games.

As the game is tuned, you will see changes to the economies, combat strengths, and AI. The AI is implemented for all countries, but is still being improved. Based on player feedback, there may be additional features added during Early Access. The plan is to release new builds at least once a month, but the schedule may vary.

The Full Version will be as bug free as possible, and incorporate any new features added during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game should be fully playable, and systems have been implemented for production, combat, supply, research, trade, and espionage. The world economy is still being tuned, and the AI is still being improved. A draft User Manual is available, but the tutorial is not yet available.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Released game price will be the same as the Early Access price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The game has been in development for 5 years, and is a very complex program. The Community will be invaluable in helping locate bugs and tune the game. Additionally, the goal is to make the best World War II game possible, so the Community will be very helpful in identifying possible new features that can make the game experience even better.

The Steam Discussions Forums will be used to report bugs and get feedback, and suggestions for additions or changes to the game. When new builds are released, the build notes will be posted on the store page, containing a list of bug fixes and/or new features added to the build.”

About This Game

Take on the role of a major country during World War II. You will control your country's production, trade, research, espionage, and command your troops in battle. Can you do as well as your historical counterpart? Or do you want to explore "what ifs" to see how history could have been changed. The entire world is included in the game. Want to attack Brazil? The choice is yours.

The game starts on the eve of the Germany invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939, and covers the war until September 2, 1945. If you want, you can keep playing after that date, and go on to conquer the world!

Destiny of the World is a simultaneous turn-based game. Each turn is 1 week of historical time. You plan your orders for the week, while the computer AI makes its plans against you. Then the orders play out simultaneously in real-time.
