What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is playable and has a beginning, middle and an end.

However, although I am very passionate about this project, I feel it is fair to mention that I am a solo developer, and as such have my limits.

In other words: I will, of course, always have more ideas of what else can be added, fixed or improved.
However, due to my limited manpower, the implementation may lag behind.
And getting feedback at this early stage from the community, and determining what is possible to develop with you, is of course one of the great benefits of being in early access as an indie developer.

As a result I decided to take the step to publish this already in early access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The rough estimate is somewhere between Fall 2021 and spring 2022.
However game will remain in early access until its mechanics and world are polished enough to be released.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The plan is to increase the variety of enemies, allies you can craft, places you can explore and weapons and armors you can find as well as to polish and improve the games mechanics.

There are also additional features, such as mounts you can ride, legendary weapons triggering special effects in fencer mode and teleportation stones for the main heroes which are, (although they are functional and already in the game) not yet included in the list of current features because they are not yet polished to the point where they would be considered worth mentioning (and adding them there might create high expectations which can easily lead to disappointment).

Of course awesome features suggested by the community could end up being added as well if adding them is possible and plausible. This, in turn, could lead to a rather hard to predict full release date, referring to above question regarding the duration of Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All the features in the "About This Game" section are already implemented. However, the plan is to polish them further.
For example, the fencer mode of the game, where you are in direct control of your sword, would benefit from further improvements.

The game is playable, it has a beginning, middle and an end.
However, it is not yet at a stage which would be considered finished or ready for a full release.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The plan is to gradually increase the price as new content and features are shipped.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan on checking in on the community forums and discussions or mail suggestions and will consider new ideas or suggestions for improvements.

Please keep in mind that this will be a slower process, as I am a solo developer, and also remember that it is of course never possible to please everyone.

(Mail-address for suggestions: "starlightquestions@gmail.com").”

About This Game

This is an adventure RPG with elements of swordplay.

In this open world game you have the control over two main heroes, and any allies you can recruit or craft.

You are tasked with breaking the islands curse and freeing your family member, however, how you go about this is up to you.

For example, you could take both your heroes along on your adventures.

Or you could leave one of them back in the village and prepare for the coming night (usually you are attacked by a small horde at nightfall), while you go explore, collect better equipment, and discover the island with your other hero.

The game can be played top down or in third person, and has multiple combat systems available, pick whichever style suits you best and adjust the difficulty accordingly.

At the moment you can expect the following features:

  • Search for legendary weapons and armor to help you in your quest.
  • Gather help for your main heroes by making friends with some creatures or by crafting others. (You can craft little "helpers" to help you right off the bat).
  • Fight your enemies either top down or in direct control of your main hero.
  • Direct control combat comes in two variations, one more traditional with pressing buttons for performing attacks or blocking, whereas the other one gives you a more "direct" control of your sword.
  • Non target based combat system:
You do not need to focus on an enemy in order to hit them in third person or in fencer mode. If you hit your enemy, you hit your enemy, it is as simple as that.
  • Experience and a very simple level up system. You don't need to spend hours learning tech trees, you literally just increase some attributes.
All creatures you control can gain experience and level up, not only the main heroes!
  • Explore the small island without hand holding mechanics such as quest tracking lines, by orienting yourself solely on landmarks and your map.
Note: There is a per default disabled option in settings that allows you to get a "your position" marker on the map.

Is this a game for you?

Please bear in mind that this is an indie game, and that, whilst I am very passionate about this project, I am a solo developer, and this, by its very nature, brings about some natural limitations.

  • Do you enjoy discovering new indie games? Do you like casual exploring without quest tracking lines and other hand holding mechanics? Are you open to try out non streamlined UI, movement and combat systems and have no high expectations regarding graphics?
Then this game is more than likely for you!
  • Do you want a nearly flawless, streamlined AAA game off the shelf, and don't enjoy thinking outside the box?
Then this game is probably not something you would enjoy.
