Why Early Access?

“I released Era of Survival in Early Access because I wanted to shape Era based on what its community wants. I release updates frequently and the latest stable release launched in May 2021. So far, we have released 19 big updates since our launch in February 2020 and stay committed to those who support our project. Pick up your copy of Era for a unique survival experience, or please consider wishlisting Era!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I currently estimate the game to be in Early Access for at least another 2 years. There is still an economical/tribal component to add to the game, once all basic survival mechanics are added and running perfectly.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“To not promise too much, we preferred to keep the lists short..

The scope to develop an online survival game is enormous. I plan Era's development in several smaller jobs (bite sized chunks) and work them off according to priority, in phases. Sometimes I even add ideas that players requested. This is why the community is so important to Era's development.

In the short term, we aim to make the following changes:
  • Add more tools and weapons, including a bow with arrows of various strength, grade 3 strength tools to gather or mine better with
  • Add more construction parts like doors, walls windows and roofs
  • Add more game cheats
  • Bring the game to a stage where bug reports have dried up
  • Bring in new animals like snakes, rabbits, ducks that bring new craft ingredients with them and unlock more craft items, like clothes
  • Stone blast oven
  • More elaborate farming that opens up more options to the player
  • Fully designed menu including adjusting graphics, audio and input settings

In the medium term, we aim to make the following changes:
  • Setting buildings on fire
  • Assign, complete and polish all character animations
  • Dark caves where better metals can be found
  • Variety of clothing options
  • More weapons including explosive and flammable throwable items and arrows
  • Fuels for cooking and combustion
  • Let other players join your colony and work together under one flag
  • Build strongholds
  • Safe sharing and trade of resources between players
  • Natural disasters
  • Create mechanical machinery including working with gears

In the long term?
  • Add the economical/tribal/colony component to the game

    We prefer to have a level of animosity as to the final future of Era of Survival. In short, it is a surprise :)

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In it's current state, players can play in Single Player mode, over LAN or on the Official online server. Theres already 38+ craftable items, including tools, weapons, medicine, clothes construction parts and more. You can explore a 2 square kilometer map with dams and rivers, dangerous wolves and bears, tender fresh live chicken, medicinal mushrooms, trees abundant, stone abundant and it even rains. Yo can construct your home any way you like, stock up on loot and fight off other players

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes it will. I understand that the game isn't finished and therefore we would ask a lower price during Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I publish updates regularly and stay in contact with the community through social media and our blog to best understand what our community wants most. In-Game bug reporting is also available to acts as a direct line with the developer”

About This Game

A new life begins.. The Age of Sophisticated Society has long passed and mother nature has done her job to restore balance and order. A new world filled with sprawling animal and plant life awaits you. It’s back to basics. Farming, hunting and proper shelter are once again your challenges. Will you overcome the world? Will you establish yourself, and then conquer it all?

Help Jack survive, by any means. By force or by strategy, you choose. But because Jack is made out of only flesh and bones, he has to fit into the natural ecosystem around him. There’s always something Jack can get to eat, but also always something that wants to eat Jack..

Help Jack find food, water and clothes, build him a nice home, make it 4 storeys high, or make it 40 storeys high. Help him establish farms as far as the eye can see. Keep Jack warm by the fire, keep Jack dry. Help Jack build stronger and stronger tools so he can survive easier, and take care of bigger problems.

A balanced world

A world with temperature, weather, day and night for Jack to explore. Many types of pickups around for explorers, dams where Jack can catch fish with his fishing pole

Go Hunting

Make Jack a bow and send him out the door! Mostly he will be hunting for wolves and bears, both violent and dangerous animals. Equipped with a bow, strong armour and a good sense of aim, Jack will be eating his cooked bear meat soon

Subsistence Farming

Help Jack grow different types of veggies, farm by farm, water them and nurture them until harvest. Dinner sorted

Construction

Jack needs a place to sleep, chill and preferably not get wet when its already cold. Use 15+ construction parts to build him any home you can imagine, any shape or size.

Resource management

Jack must work carefully with what he’s got. If he keeps chopping away all the trees around his house, sooner than later he’s going to have to start travelling farther and farther for more wood. He must use the storage space he’s got to fit in everything he really needs and not hoard.

Fishing

Many strategies to survive in the long run are available to Jack, living next to a wolf nest is one way to secure a food supply, so is living next to a dam and catching dinner.

Multiplayer

Play with other Jacks, build homes and colonies together.

As nature intends, from time to time confrontation will take place that could lead to fights with tools or weapons between players in a multiplayer environment. In Era of Survival, players can also choose between avoiding hostile animals or fighting them, which might include using a weapon or tool, to the players preference.
