This simulator is a true FPV Drone Racing simulator. The goal is to make it look and feel as similar to a standard racing drone as possible. As such, the goal is not to make the most HD/GoPro-esque visuals. Instead the focus is on simulating what pilots see through the goggles, static and all!

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This simulator is in early access because we are still working on some of the features you've come to expect out of a super realistic drone racing simulator.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This game will be in Early Access until we feel it can provide an awesome experience for every aspiring drone racing pilot. We expect that to be some time before 2021. We value people's time, and want them to get the most out of it when they choose to use our software.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Flow State team is very ambitious. And we want to be able to do some things that other sims haven't even considered. But as far as the things we can talk about, we'd like to see a more fully fleshed out multiplayer experience that will allow you to enjoy FPV drone sport in new ways with new people. We also want to ensure that we provide the community all the features necessary to share and create tools for practice and fun with each other.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, we have a sim flies excellently. Any experienced FPV pilot will pick it up and note that it feels quite similar to their existing setup. We have also created something that, visually, recreates the experience of flying an analog FPV racing drone. It is an excellent tool for practicing for real races because it flies the way racing drones actually fly, not how we wish they flew.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“THIS SIMULATOR IS OPEN SOURCE. Access to the game files will always be available via github for free. We are considering charging for the Steam version if donations are not enough to keep multiplayer servers running.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We need your feedback! We want our Early Access members to be comparing this sim to their actual quads, running side by side tests, putting the software through its paces. We welcome as much feedback as we can get as it will lead to a better FPV drone racing simulator for all! You can get in touch with the devs as well as other community members on the following platforms:

Reviews

“AMAZINGLY, IT SCORES HIGHER THAN SOME OF THE BIG STUDIOS IN THE PERFORMANCE CATEGORY. THE PROP DAMAGE SIMULATION IS PRETTY COOL AND I LIKE HOW YOU DON’T CRASH AND RESET. YOU CAN SORT OF WIGGLE YOUR WAY OUT OF STICKY SITUATIONS AND KEEP RIPPING.”

About This Game

Simulator Philosophy
This simulator is a true FPV Drone Racing simulator. The goal is to make it look and feel as similar to a standard racing drone as possible. As such, the goal is not to make the most HD/GoPro-esque visuals. Instead the focus is on simulating what pilots see through the goggles, static and all! This sim is also open source! So if you would like to contribute find us on github. Here are some of the founding principles players' and contributors' consideration.

- Flight feel is #1 priority
- This means lowest (realistic) possible input latency
- Use as a practice tool
- Lap times should be similar for most pilots/setups/tracks
- Editable maps with commonly used track elements
- Realistic video static/interference like what you'd see in an actual FPV race
- Competitive
- The sim does not provide significant advantages to those with high end gaming rigs
- The "sim quads" could be flown "against" real quads, and yield a fair competition
- Field friendly (works on recent lower end laptops)
- Usable with or without internet connection
