早期アクセスにした理由

Early Access allows us the flexibility of finding out if what we love about Ephemeral Tale is what you love about Ephemeral Tale. There are a slew of benefits to this approach, as well:
  • We can find and fix any critical bugs and issues that we've missed thus far
  • Early Access allows us to learn in a controlled environment what kind of content the community prefers
  • Are the bosses too spicy? We can turn down the heat. Loot chance too high/low? We can adjust it.
  • By knowing what you like/dislike about Ephemeral Tale, we can address those concerns directly.

A common strategy for retail businesses is the idea of a soft-open: figure out what works, what doesn't, solve those issues, and then move towards the official opening. With Ephemeral Tale, our goal is similar.”

“We plan on being in Early Access for anywhere from 3-6 months.

We feel that the core foundation of Ephemeral Tale is the gameplay loop of Explore -> Fight -> Loot. That sense of progression from deepening your characters stat sheet through items and abilities is the driving force behind our design. With that said, we've spent the last two years developing the game in a bubble: we've designed something that we like, but that doesn't mean that it will have enough loot for your buddy to dig through. Maybe you want more enemies to chew up and spit out, or some cool new vistas to gaze at-- knowing what we need to focus on to make you guys happy is the key goal.”

“There are several goals that we have in mind for the full release of Ephemeral Tale. We would like to have a deep, fleshed-out New Game+ system, full Steam Achievement support, and even a full-fledged character creator. We also have more long term goals for post-release support, and shorter term goals for during the Early Access phase, including additional content.

We're currently committed to releasing a weekly patch every Tuesday, with the usual suspects of changes (bug fixes, inconsistencies, content here and there, etc.), and a more substantial patch every 4th week or so that will add new features, revamped content, or anything that's too significant to fit in the time span of a week.”

早期アクセスバージョンの現状はどうなっていますか?

“The current state of Early Access is a fully-playable build of Ephemeral Tale. Front-to-Back. Over the course of Early Access, we plan on deepening that experience in a multitude of ways, but you will have a fully playable game with a beginning, middle, and end from Day 1.

What does that mean? 30+ unique enemy types, 60+ unique items, 3 dungeons, and a handful of bosses. Everything you see on the store page here is fully accessible content.

And sure, someone who buys it at the full release will have more playable content than you did, but it's really like comparing a slice of pie to.. well, two slices of pie.

So far, in Early Access we've had:
  • 10 patches
  • New story content
  • 25 new items
  • New quests
  • New NPCs
  • New features
  • Major system overhauls

And we've still got our eyes on a lot more in the future!”

“The price of Ephemeral Tale will rise over the course of development as more content and features are added as we near launch. We don't foresee it increasing a drastic amount, however, so consider the Early Access price a "pre-order discount" of sorts. Just with the difference that you get to play the game right then and there!”

“We plan on involving our community in whatever way they wish to be involved in the development process-- dislike one of our bosses and have an idea? We're listening. Would an item be better if it did this thing instead of that thing? We're not opposed to it. Have an idea for a zone, NPC, or quest? Don't rule it out, baby. We love your passion, and we love that you want to help us make this the best game that it can be.

We've already been able to drastically overhaul major systems due to community feedback, including our combat system, gear system, and stat system. We've added a whole slew of stuff (seriously, there's a list in the "Current State" section above) thanks to feedback from our amazing community. But we can only make the game better with more feedback, and more players!

  • EXPLORE - Explore varied environments in search of those who hold the power to rewrite fate. With 5 dungeons to crawl through, you'll have plenty of opportunity to find some sweet loot, and unravel the hidden past of this forgotten land.
  • LOOT - Collect powerful, randomized loot, and build your own style of play! With over 40 pieces of unique gear, there is a load of (loot filled, of course) grinding to do.
  • COMBAT - Fight challenging and powerful bosses! Big bosses, small bosses, hidden bosses.. We got 'em all! Between a swathe of enemies (each with a unique item), and our array of bosses, combat never grows stale.
  • & MORE - Discover special allies, secret vendors, randomly generated chests, & more! Secrets lie just beneath the surface..

Oh, and you can pet a dog!... If you're skilled enough to find it.
