What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I'm a solo developer who's spent the past three years building Snack Invaders, focusing on nailing the core mechanics for a stable, fun, and fully playable experience from start to finish. Early Access lets me bring players into the loop right now to help shape the game's future. Your feedback will be crucial for balancing and expanding the Snack Invaders universe. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“As a solo developer, I estimate Snack Invaders will remain in Early Access for 5-7 months. This gives me time to iterate on player feedback for balancing weapons, level design, difficulty curves, bosses, unlockables, all while adding polish and any new content that emerges from community input. I'll post regular updates via Steam News and Discord, aiming for full release once the game feels complete and feedback-driven improvements are in place. The exact timeline may shift slightly based on the volume and nature of suggestions, but I'm committed to steady progress.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan for the full version of Snack Invaders to have several things such as:
-Steam achievements, leaderboards
-Controller support improvements
-More unlockables and challenges
-Possibly new levels with new unique food themes and bosses
-Seasonal holiday events and unlockables”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Snack Invaders is fully playable from beginning to end with a complete core gameplay loop. Right now you can expect:

-Around 8–10+ hours of content across multiple stages, biomes, game modes, and boss arenas. (More if you are a completionist that loves a difficult challenge and plays on the hardest difficulty.

-Campaign mode with ~10 levels (not counting boss arenas)

-Over 10+ Souls-Like boss fights with unique patterns, phases, and arenas

-Boss Rush Mode where you can test your skills against each boss leading up the the final boss fight

-Sugar Free Mode where you can play any level at any time, the way you want. (Great for practicing levels and boss fights)

-Wave Based Survival levels where you hold out against endless, escalating waves of snacks to see how many waves you can survive!

-Shrinking Zone Survival levels where you fight relentless waves inside a dynamic, contracting safe zone that moves and tightens!

-Side-scroller Platformer levels where you run from meatballs, try to make crazy jumps, and sweat your pants off like the olden days of the 90's when games were hard.

-3D Space Combat levels where you launch your fighter ship for free flight dogfights and epic space battles against pizza UFO's and a pizza Mothership!!

-Over 30+ weapons to blast snacks with! (Not even counting the upgraded versions of the weapons)

-Multiple difficulty settings for players who like a challenge and those who prefer a more laid back approach.

-Lots of free cosmetics to unlock (no microtransactions ever)

-Challenges to complete with cosmetic rewards

-Full keyboard/mouse support

Partial Controller Support (works in game and most menus, but still working on it)

The game is stable, thoroughly play-tested internally, and already a lot of fun in its current state. Some areas are still being polished (UI, minor visual effects, audio mixing, etc.), but bugs should be rare and the experience feels complete and enjoyable from start to finish.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Currently I plan to keep the same price during Early Access and after the full release. If I add a significant amount of new content or features that substantially increases the game’s value, I may reconsider and slightly raise the price at 1.0, but for now, the price you see is the price the game will stay at.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As a solo developer, community feedback is absolutely essential to making Snack Invaders the best it can be. Your input will directly shape balancing, new content, and polish decisions whether it be through the Steam community page or the Discord server. ”
