What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“DragonClash is based on the physical card game of the same name. Translating the game to a digital version gives me the opportunity to not only bring it to a wider audience, but expand the game for this specific platform, adding new features like customizable lairs, boss battles, and more. Releasing in Early Access will involve players in the process, allowing me to expand, tailor and improve the experience with your feedback and support!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“At minimum, I'd like to add all four core decks to the game, as well as the related lairs, and an additional boss battle. I estimate Early Access will last into early 2020, in order to implement and balance these features, but it may take longer, depending on player support and feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version, I'd like to include:
  • Additional dragon game decks, along with their related AI.
  • Additional boss battles to shape a story mode for players to progress through.
  • Update some of the game art, adding more variety
  • Add in-game cinematics.
  • Expand the lair customization
  • Include customizable dragon avatars to share with your friends.

This will largely depend on Early Access support and player demand.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version currently contains:
  • Three, fully playable, game decks: The Red Breather, Blue Adept, and Silver Channeler.
  • Battles against Red Breather, Blue Adept, and Silver Channeler AI opponents.
  • The Crone boss battle, which is repeatable
  • Three lairs, each with 12 levels of features to obtain
  • Over 55 in-game Milestone Badges to earn
  • An in-game rules manual and tutorial
  • Musical score

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access version will have a discounted base price, compared to the full version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'm very interested in player feedback on the Steam Discussion boards to help tune and balance the game, as well as to ensure a bug-free experience. I'd also love to further develop existing and (potentially) new content and features based on player suggestions and demand.”

After suffering centuries of war, pollution, and neglect, the dying spirit of Earth, known as Gaia, has called out to her last defenders in a desperate plea for life. Those defenders are dragons, each born from the destruction wrought by the human race and bound to the elemental weaves of Gaia. A savage red dragon may rise from nuclear fire, a shifty blue from the oil soaked oceans, a mad silver from the smog-filled skies, and a hungry brown dragon from the poisoned ground of a toxic waste dump.

It was Gaia's hope that the dragons would be better than humanity and help reshape the world in elemental harmony, but the violence that manifested the dragons also gave rise to an entity known as Oblivion. Called "the Great Father" by the dragons, his influence tainted the dragons at birth, driving them mad with a lust for war.

Now the dragons not only battle humanity, but themselves. Ruthlessly hunting for the dragon eggs to satiate their endless hunger for power, the dragons wage an eternal struggle for dominance and the very soul of Earth. Gaia has called out to the last guardians. She has called out to you. Become the dragon and conquer all that oppose you to become the chosen "Last Kin", and reshape the fate of Earth in your claw.
