A Place for the Unwilling is coming out on 25th July!

We have some HUGE news for you today, A Place for the Unwilling is finally getting a release date. We’re extremely excited to announce that it’ll be available on Steam on July 25, that’s in less than three weeks from now.

We started working full-time on the concept almost four years ago. It has become a far bigger part of our lives than what we first expected. That journey is coming to an end and we can’t wait to share it with all of you (finally!).

There’s a new teaser announcing the date to help spread the word around. Wishlist the game on Steam and get ready to explore the City on July 25.

About Kickstarter Rewards

When we launched the Kickstarter campaign we were working with a Spanish publishing company that was going to distribute the game. We managed the campaign using their account until several months later, when we made the difficult decision of continuing on our own. The owners of said company, which recently appeared on international press after being reported by developers and workers, have moved to another country and have rejected our petitions to keep managing the campaign and deliver rewards to backers. After several emails to Kickstarter, their staff has concluded they won't be doing anything to fix the situation.

We still intend to keep our promises and we post messages everywhere, encouraging backers to get in touch with us. It's a time-consuming task for a team that is already overwhelmed, but we are going to send the rewards to every person that gets in touch with us (even after release). We always try to be as open and accessible as possible on social media, email, and discord. Most backers have already talked to us and will receive their rewards soon. We will continue trying to reach the rest.

Last week, we sent backers a survey asking for the information we need to handle rewards. If you haven't been getting our emails, ping us at "info [at] alpixelgames [dot] com" so we can walk you through the process.

You can also get in touch with us on Discord.

“The setting in A Place for the Unwilling immediately establishes an intriguing blend of charm and dread.”
Game Informer

“It looks hella pretty”
Rock Paper Shotgun

“A Place for the Unwilling is as beautiful as a chocolate box, a Victorian-era stage covered in mist and night, with a knot of buildings and streets you must navigate to discover the city’s secrets.”
PC Gamer

About This Game

A branching narrative adventure set in the final 21 days of a dying city.

Every decision you make will shape your surroundings, and the city’s fate. However, the clock is ticking - and the city carries on, with or without you.

Speak to everyone from eerie politicians to chain-smoking child anarchists. Work as a trader, socialise, explore the town freely, and play a role in the city’s hierarchy.

Combining the exquisite narrative depth and exploration of Sunless Sea with the curious setup of Majora’s Mask - plus a dash of Lovecraft - A Place for the Unwilling is a rich narrative experience where player choices really do count, set in a Dickensian world of colour and Eldritch nightmares.

The city is hungry. It will devour us all. Dream with caution.
