Orbitron: Space Academy is a unique sci-fi PvP tactical arcade with two main modes — Pure tactical Space Chess mode or tactical mode combine with real-time arcade battles, based on SteamNetwork. 

Inspired by 1983's oldschool Archon, which I played with my father in the 90s. And many hours MOO2, which i played.

Real players only. No AI or single player for now!

Climb leaderboards with a custom ELO Ranking System.

Quick access to the game. Infinite gameplay.

Space Chess Mode

  • Experience heroic space chess-like turn-based tactics on a spaceboard, where the king is not hiding.

  • 6 different base formations and commanders to choose from.

  • Collect powers and use the abilities of your main ships, Guardian (King) & Messenger (Queen).

  • Three ways to win. Seize all powerfields, infiltrate the enemy or defeat the main enemy ships.

Orbitron Mode

  • Like above, but the decision to take an enemy figure is resolved in an arcade spaceship battle.

  • Engage your opponent with your ship, but remember: The Attacker has a significant start advantage.

  • Find new technology and upgrades on board and dominate in battle.

  • Repair and upgrade your ships as they get more battle-hardened.

  • Prioritize ship systems. Manage energy balance between shields, engines and weapons.

  • Survive and get more experienced crew.

Fleet at your command. 

Reimagined figures. Refreshing new ways to play, while still maintaining a resemblance to the original chess pieces.

Each class is unique, both on board and in battle.

  • Major changes in figure philosophy:

    • King is heroic. No more hiding, lead your fleet! 

    • The Queen is not overpowered. Shares power with King.

    • If one of them is lost, the remaining one's movement is nerfed into 'Classic' King in chess.

    • More moving maneuvers on the board.
