Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“83 is all about the updates and we are starting as we intend to continue, with updates coming regularly during Early Access and beyond. Early Access is a great way to get the game in front of our fans as soon as possible and bring them along with us in the development process as we optimise, refine systems and introduce new maps and gameplay. Player feedback has always been crucial to our team in past titles we have worked on, and we are keen to make it the keystone of our development process for 83.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We intend the game to be in Early Access until mid-to-late 2026 with regular updates happening during this period. We’ll also trial new biomes and maps alongside new gameplay mechanics, new vehicles and new weapons. Whilst doing this, the optimisation process will continue, improving the gameplay experience for players with all kinds of systems.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The gameplay will be more balanced, there will be (even) fewer bugs, the game will run even more smoothly than initial EA launch. Up to double the number of maps is planned, and there will be an extra faction, and more gameplay systems.

But the updating and addition of content will not stop on Hard Launch; our plan is to continue the updates with new maps, weapons, vehicles and factions far into the future of the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently we have 3 maps, with 3 different game types per map, playable by two factions (NATO & PACT), each with vehicles (armour and jeep) and well over a dozen weapons per faction. Most major gameplay systems are in place, including commander and squad leader functionality, and character level progression systems (cosmetic) are implemented in basic form.

We also have server operation/admin backends in place for community-run servers.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Pricing is under review, but we do not currently intend to increase the base price of the game either during Early Access or for the full version release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our community has been an integral part of the development of ’83, since before the project even reached Alpha. We have found the community members’ feedback and knowledge to be absolutely invaluable.

This continues into the closed Beta and will be a key feature of Early Access. We have a very active Discord community with special channels for feedback. These channels are regularly monitored by our development team to provide feedback and help prioritise improvements. We also post regular surveys and run metrics software to provide raw data for continuing enhancement of the game throughout EA.”

Need to know more? Let's go! 👇

When we say that '83 is a spiritual successor to the Rising Storm series, it's not only the accessible realism approach that makes '83 worth that title. Members of our team have worked on all previous Rising Storm titles, and also on the Red Orchestra franchise. Some of us have been in the biz of developing accessible realism games for the past 15 years.
It's just what we do best.

Games in the tactical/mil-sim shooter genre are usually a huge time sink.  Everybody loves Tarkov and Arma but... not everyone can game 100 hours a week, or afford to prep for a match for XYZ minutes -- only to die instantly!

'83 is mindful of your time. It skips the dull parts commonly present in realistic games, takes you to action fast, but does not neglect the lethality of war.

You can absolutely still die fast, but should that happen, you're back in business within a minute or two. You might want to avoid the dying though, your squad needs you and every death matters, as the matches are only 30-40 minutes long!

The tactical aspect of '83 lies in the objective focused flow of every match that simply requires teamwork to win. Clutch situations when capturing key objectives on the map can be solved with smart flanks, diversions, or well-timed fire missions, all coordinated across multiple squads within a team.

As with any tactical shooter, the selection of gear matters and can make a difference in '83. However, the point is not to experience gear fear. You can customize your loadout, but there are predefined classes (including a team commander!) that set some boundaries in order to strike a balance across factions.

There is a large selection of weapons and other gadgets, each meticulously designed and animated according to their real life counterpart. Also, the weapons behave in a realistic way: the barrels and suppressors overheat when rapid firing, machineguns are better deployed on a stable surface, and bullets don't magically teleport in between magazines when you reload a half-empty one.

Sounds like a game you want to play? Great!
Please add '83 to your Steam wishlist, and let's stay in touch!
