What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Joining the Arcanium community during its Early Access period is your chance to give your feedback to shape Arcanium. Whether you love to explore RPGs, throw down with a card game, crave another run in a Roguelike, or need your dungeon crawl fix, we are dedicated to using your feedback to help grow and refine Arcanium into a real gem.

During our time working on Arcanium we've found real value in remaining transparent with our community, using their playtesting input to help us refine and shape changes to the game before we finalize them. Got a great idea? Something that bugs you so much? Quality of Life improvement? One more Quip you need to hear Leon say before he crushes Aranax? Bring it on, that's what we want! Keeping our community in the loop, listening to all the feedback, has helped many of players find a voice in the current state of the project, helping it become what it is today, and we truly want to involve you in that experience.

The roadmap (posted below) shows our development goals for Arcanium, making it clear to all players where we intend to go. We are committing to updates every two weeks as Arcanium goes through Early Access featuring (but not limited to):

- Quality of Life improvements (there's always something)
- New Playable Heroes
- New Provinces to Explore
- New Villains to face
- New Bosses to grind into dust
- New Difficulties to challenge you
- New Cards and Artwork

Our goal is to exceed expectations and keep the game engaging throughout the Early Access period and produce a groundbreaking title who's replayability offers hundreds of hours of entertainment.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan on staying in Early access for 12 months to take Arcanium from its current state to a full release. We want to ensure that the v1.0 launch is polished, seamless, and engaging.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Along the road to the full release there will be a total of 3 chapters to explore, loads of discoverable heroes to form your party with, over 500 of cards with which to stylize and refine your decks, our final boss Ahkan to contend with, and beautifully polished 3D battlegrounds & maps to enjoy. We also want to set a high bar with our sound, music and visual effects to create the most immersive single-player card slinging RPG experience possible.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The moment Arcanium is available you’ll have access to the following:

- Call of the Forest: The complete first chapter of Anador based in the province of Anador, the Mystical Forest. Chapters are procedurally generated maps with a story arc featuring quests, artifacts, enemies, elites, and a final boss all unique to that region.
- An initial band of 3 Heroes each with their own set of unlockables including 24 Ability cards and 2 Heirloom Artifacts. More heroes will be available in the first few updates after launch, and many more in later updates as Early Access progresses.

Arcanium’s core gameplay loop is robust and fully implemented and you will have the opportunity to finish the first chapter right through the defeat of the Anador boss - Aranax the Brood Queen, on your choice of several difficulty settings.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We’ve yet to decide on the full launch pricing, but given all the content that we’ll be adding during Early Access and the level of polish the game will receive, you should expect the price to be increased at launch. We’ll definitely be talking about it as Early Access progresses.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Since the beginning, we have included our community informed of and involved with every aspect of the development process. We will be designing the game YOU want to create. Every opinion and every piece of feedback matters to us, and we plan to actively involve the community as we move forward with the development and design of Arcanium.

Want to be part of the process? Follow the links below to the platforms where we’re very active. We also host our weekly “Arcanium Gathering” via both Discord and Twitch where many of our community members gather to share their thoughts, opinions, and ideas.

About This Game

Merging the best of Roguelike and Deckbuilding, Arcanium is an epic, ambitious, open-world single-player strategy game. Form a party of three Heroes and embark on a dangerous journey in order to defeat Akhan the Calamity, and save the world of Arzu from destruction.

Roam freely inside a vast, fully procedural 3D map, but keep an eye on the Threat meter... The longer you stay in a Province, the harder the enemies get. Forge a path wisely, the choices you make have a lasting impact on the rest of your Run.

Strategize your attack on every turn, coordinating unique skills between all three heroes in your team. Our innovative combat system is easy to learn while offering tremendous strategic depth

Control a party of three Heroes on the battlefield, each with their own skills (and ultimate abilities), equipment, and upgrades. Swap heroes in battle, allowing the healthier heroes to step in front of the incoming damage and protect your more fragile party members.

Many unique heroes with varying mechanics and themes to keep you brainstorming for new compositions and combinations. Each has a unique starting deck of Ability cards that fits one of 6 classes. Triple-supports? All ranged Abilities? Damage-over-time heavy? Anything goes! Find the play-style that works for you.

Find powerful artifacts, gain new skills from cards, learn cross-character abilities, and discover consumable items throughout your journeys. You can edit your Heroes' ability decks and equipment rosters at any time outside of combat.

Arcanium: Rise of Akhan is the lovechild of SUPERCOMBO, we're a small team of just four passionate developers who have, since 2017, lived and breathed card strategy. We are Remi Marchand (CEO, Lead Designer & Game director), Josh Kohlmeier (Technical director & Lead developer), Jacob Rommann (Senior developer) and Jaslynn Tham (Art Director). Our mission is to surprise and delight players with a unique, innovative, and beautiful experience, so we hope you’ll continue to join us as we take Arcanium to the next level.
