It's ten years after the infection started, and rumors are swirling of a strange new terror. Long-established settlements are collapsing, one by one, amid reports of horrific violence. Survivors are running to the hills to escape, taking refuge in the more remote areas of the Pacific Northwest.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“To collect player feedback on game mechanics, balance the game and fix bugs, while working on a story mode.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 1 year.
Please note: I am one person working in my spare time, so progress may be slow. I started work on the original Survivalist in 2009!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The aim is to include a Story Mode similar to the original Survivalist, add more polish and optimization, fix bugs, and incorporate player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is currently in beta testing, I am hoping it will be ready for Early Access release in early 2020.

As seen the videos, in the current build I've implemented Sandbox Mode (a randomly generated map) with melee and ranged combat, stealth, hunting, farming, crafting, building, dialog, community building and simple quests. Online co-op is also now working.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It is likely to be more expensive once it leaves Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community have set up a Discord Channel which is currently the main way I'm communicating about the beta testing build.
I also use my youtube channel, the Steam forums, and email.”

About This Game

This is the sequel to Survivalist, currently still a work in progress so watch this space for more details!

Survivalist: Invisible Strain is an open-ended game about building a community after the collapse of civilisation. You can recruit survivors by making them like you, or respect you, or fear you. You'll need to keep them warm, keep them fed, and build a settlement to keep them safe from zombies, looters, and whatever else is out there. Use stealth, weapons, or words to achieve your objectives. Initially it will use a randomly generated world, with a story mode to follow later.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

- Contains violence against humans and zombies, and you can hunt animals.
- There is a clothing system, which means characters can be undressed down to their underwear.
- Also a fair amount of swearing
