What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want players to be able to help sculpt Agtnan, by playing it, enjoying it (or disliking it), and giving their feedback as they join us on the journey to full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Ideally, six months to a year. Our goal is to exit Early Access sometime in 2020 as we start to move into working on the story-based expansion. During this time as an Early Access title, we'll be adding new features, levels, and content at no additional costs whatsoever.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“When Agtnan exits Early Access, the arena-based mode will be complete and we will have the story expansion ready to be announced. At that time, we're looking to have (at least) doubled the number of playable arenas, added sme new modes and gameplay variants, and expand the player customization options in-game to include cosmetic choices.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access state of Agtnan (as of July 2019) is mechanically sound. The current arenas, of which there are five, are all fully playable. The upgrade system in in place, with in-game Creds collected during play (zero microtransactions!) going towards ability upgrades and new bombs, but not all of the planned upgrades are available yet.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Our plans, as of July 2019, is to keep Agtnan at its current price point through Early Access. Once it leaves Early Access, our goal is to keep the price the same until the story expansion is released, at which point we're going to increase the price marginally to go along with it, meaning all existing players will get the expansion at no further cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback! We're looking for what works, what doesn't, and we're always open to future arena and feature concepts. We're using Early Access to make Agtnan with the community, not just for them. You can share your ideas, feedback, questions and suggestions with us on Agtnan's discussion page or send them to us via Twitter or Facebook.”

Timer and Achievement Tracking improved

We've just posted an update that fixes a few small bugs and inconsistencies, including the stat page timer not showing hours and achievements being unreliable.

  • FIX: Timer on the stat page now reads Hours:Minutes:Seconds instead of just Minutes:Seconds when the player exceeds 60 minutes played
  • FIX: Creds now always properly count towards unlocking achievements.
  • FIX: Achievements for buying upgrades now reliably unlock as intended

It's Shutdown Time - Agtnan: Monster Shutdown Sequence has Launched

Agtnan is now available! We're excited to see how it's received, but it's also time for us to dig back in and continue work on the new arenas we currently have in development. Every future update (arenas, game modes, features, etc) will be added at no additional cost - no DLC or microtransactions ever.

If you find anything that needs worked on, fixed, or just have some feedback for us, post it in Agtan's discussion page here on Steam.

Known Bug
The play clock on the stats page doesn't show hours, only minutes and seconds. It'll be fixed in the first patch.

About This Game

In Agtnan: Monster Shutdown Sequence, you are a robot, a robot on the run. You're released from your imprisonment to avoid or kill the night terrors sent your way for your captors' entertainment, just like the gladiators of old - if gladiators had CPUs and roller wheels. Survive, and you will be able to expand your abilities with Creds you've earned. If you fail, you'll be hammered back together for another go. It's a good thing your LED face comes equipped with a 'panicked' expression!

  • SURVIVE - Survive various arenas, each featuring unique layouts, themes, hazards, and tricks. Rotating gears, moving platforms, and electric fences are just a few of the hazards you'll encounter.
  • FIGHT BACK - You're not some powerless pawn - each map comes with bomb points where you can pick up explosives to take the fight to the night terrors. If you kill enough of them, maybe they'll retreat...?
  • IMPROVE - Collecting Creds from night terrors and surviving will let you improve your circuitry, giving you new and improved abilities. Run faster and longer, take more damage, and even change how bombs work. Giant or splitting bombs, anyone?

  • STORY MODE - Who are you, really? Why are you here? Those are some of the questions we're going to answer with an upcoming story mode. You'll embark on a lengthy, action/puzzle adventure to find out who is behind all of this, and why.
  • MORE ARENAS - Of course, we'll also be adding more new arenas to play in. Why? Because there are always new ways we can fry a robot's circuits.
  • MULTIPLAYER - This is a long-term goal, set for some time after we add the story mode. Multiplayer arenas, where you can help or hinder your fellow robots' chances of survival.
