What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“To achieve the scope and final vision of our game, it will be necessary to deeply understand the type of player who enjoys and seeks more experiences that simulate the idea of being a librarian.

We believe we already have a fun and functional version of this experience and have many ideas on how to evolve it further. Early access is an option for us because it will allow us to focus our resources and help validate our current vision while providing valuable insights on where to go next.

But beyond that, it is currently the healthiest and most objective way to get to know and interact with our audience. Through a participatory process between developers and players, we can gather feedback about the game and accurately discover which ideas work, which don’t, and what our players’ greatest desires are for the future of our game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately one year and a half to two years, with constant updates during this time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version, we plan on including more features that enhance the librarian simulation fantasy.

One of our focuses will be on diversifying organizational possibilities and providing new ways to acquire books and customize the library's interactive environment, potentially resulting in increasingly customizable options that reflect the unique ways different groups express themselves as librarians.

In addition, we plan on improving how customers interact with the library, which would, in turn, generate more tasks that simulate a librarian's daily life and gradually test players on how they choose to organize and manage their day-to-day activities.

Finally, we plan to explore alternative game modes and introduce support for mods (if possible) and the active participation of players and partners in customizing the book content within their libraries. This will include possibilities involving a social environment where players can interact not only as librarians but also as visitors to other players' libraries, consuming books and engaging with each other in various ways. We can't promise those features, but they are surely interesting additions we will be working hard to test and check how they could be implemented to the final game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, the game offers a single-player or co-op experience that explores a diverse, challenging daily simulation of a librarian's life. Among the basic features available to players since day 1 is the ability to organize books on shelves as they wish, acquire new books, attend to customers, manage the library, and expand and customize the environment.

The game is now much deeper than it was during its original launch, having since then received frequent updates that added features like furniture removal, book storage, avatar customization, NPC registration and damaged books, as well as new game modes and new languages.

LIBRITOPIA will still receive even more updates, features and languages until its final release.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the game will have its price incrised for the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The game already has a Discord community where players can stay updated on the development team's plans, provide direct feedback, report issues, and find groups of players to play with and share their experiences with us and other players.

Additionally, in-game mechanisms for content suggestions are still planned for the Early Access period, especially the ability to suggest the addition of public domain books that are of interest to our players.

Updates are also always shared on the game's Steam page through the "announcements" section.”

About This Game

REAL BOOKS AND VISITORS WHO NEED YOU

Libritopia is the library simulator where the books are real. Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Dostoevsky, Jules Verne and many others: all the great classics of world literature can be on your shelves, ready for readers who don't always know exactly what they want — and it's up to you to help them!

Manage a massive collection of literary works in a library that grows with you, with friends or alone. But a library is more than books: each visitor has a name, history and preferences. They request specific titles, return books late, disturb other readers, and sometimes get so frustrated they throw books at you.

NEW BOOKS AND AN EVER-GROWING COLLECTION

Every day brings new tasks: books to repair, shelves to rearrange, and labels to create. And shipments of new titles never stop arriving! You can order titles by author, genre, or exact name, but surprises (and duplicates) may show up too. When you have more books than shelves, no problem: schedule a Donation Day and decide which duplicate volumes find a new home.

PLAY AT YOUR OWN PACE...

In Survival Mode, each run is scored and pressure builds every day — shipments keep coming, and when visitors lose patience, books fly. Right at your face. In Relaxed Mode, you build your dream library at your own pace, organize every shelf your way, and there's no game over.

...WITH WHOEVER YOU WANT

All modes support online co-op so you can split tasks with friends and let the chaos reign — or go solo if you prefer to be one of those legendary hermit librarians. There's room for everyone here!

WHAT'S WAITING FOR YOU:

  • A collection of real public domain classics from world literature: if it was published and belongs to everyone, it's here for you to organize however you like

  • Returns, check-outs, damaged books and visitors with specific needs: the full bibliophile chaos package

  • Two game modes: Survival (more pressure and chaos every day) and Relax (no time limit and no books flying at your head)

  • Online co-op: share tasks with friends or a partner to unwind together (or create chaos, that's up to you)

  • Organize your shelves your way: by genre, author, year, country, color, or any criteria that only makes sense to you

  • Full library customization: walls, floors, windows, furniture, plants, paintings

  • Create your avatar: body type, hair, clothes and accessories

  • Try it on Steam Deck!

AN EVER-EVOLVING GAME

The Libritopia of January 2025 and the one you can play today are very different games. Since launch we've added NPC registration, a tablet feature, graphics updates, avatar customization, Steam achievements, Linux support, Relax Mode, and many new languages!

Much of this came directly from our community. Special events like the Book Donation Day were created by request to handle duplicate titles. Avatar customization was implemented based on player feedback, and we regularly add new open-access books suggested by the community so every player can take care of the titles they love.

Because like any good library, our collection is always growing.

Welcome, Librarian. Grab your stack of books and let's get started.
