The proof that a video game doesn t have to be a game to be impressive.
I would call The Cat and the Coup a masterpiece, even though playing this game isn t challenging or even fun in any other way, then finding the way the truth about what happened is revealed awesome.
And this might be the point. The Cat and the Coup is maybe more art than game. More history lesson than entertainment media. More experiment than the perfection of a certain concept. For this I love The Cat and the Coup.

you can get through the game in 15-30 mins but it is very well worth it it's very interesting, beautiful and teaches some things you most likely would never have known about iran and since it's free and won't take much time out of your day you might as well try it

More like this: "Call of Duty", where you play the other side of the story :)

Interesting and rather lovely way of talking about a critical event we gloss over far too much. Very original, graphically akin to Monty Python or Yellow Submarine. Quite short, more could be made of it.

Well... That was interesting. A very creative way to tell a life's story. I recommend playing it, just for the novelty if nothing else.

An interesting idea-blend of motion graphics, inforgraphics, and gaming. Though I wouldn't recommend The Cat and the Coup to the casual gamer, anyone interested in visual and interactive design might want to give it some play time.

I saw this game on a friends library, and decided to check it out

11/10, especially for a free game... about 5 minutes of a history lesson of the later part of the career and life of a democratically elected leader

Beatiful Art made by a mix of Arts...
Great story, fiction cannot beat the tragedy of real historic events.

while playing this game I was reminded of another game "The Plan", although The Plan possibly could be true, this is by far a more depressing story. (unless you of course dont care about the place or its people or its effects on you...)

To the Devs, Wonderful job getting this story out there!

So many tragedies are being writen every day, there is pleanty more material for them to build off... heck, a second one in Iran alone about 21 years after this story ends...

Visually, it was something I had never seen in a game before. It was very beautifully designed and artistic. Although, I would have liked the game more if it told the life of Dr. Mohammed Mossadegh in a more plain and smoother way; sort of like a biography rather than having the game show you straight up facts and dates.

On the first layer: Wonderful visual design with a pleasant soundtrack to back it up. Every inch of this game has a vibrant aesthetic.
On the second layer: A brief history lesson on the Irani Revolution, told from a non-Western perspective, which is very rare to a Western gamer, told via the scenes themselves and the occasional snippet of newspaper in the background.
Put together: A short, but impactful, beautiful, and expertly created piece of historical art.

And it's got a kitty in it. I like kitties.

5-minute free breaktime game where you learn some summarised modern history whilst playing as a cat vandalising things. Can't fault it, seems like a great delivery system to me.

The Cat and The Coup is a very short game where you kind of play a history lesson... as a cat. I like history and I love all animals, and I really love games where you get to play as animals. I first got interested in it when I saw the art, which is this really cool style that looks kind of like a scrap book. I was further interested when I saw that you get to play as a cat. It took me 20 minutes to play through it because there aren't any real directions and a couple of the rooms were really confusing for me, in regards to what you had to do to progress. In order to get further into the brief history lesson, you have to interact with the environment in such a way that leads the human to fall out of the room you're in and into the next room. The music in the game, paired with the art and photos, gives it a great atmosphere. I am definitely having my history buff friend play this, just because it was an interesting game. I got to have fun while learning something new. Now if only all history classes were taught like this, I think more kids might pay attention.

Did I mention Nine Inch Nails is on the soundtrack? Because Nine Inch Nails is on the Sondtrack.

Edit: I just wanted to add that the mechanics of the game remind me of The Bridge, so if you played and liked The Bridge, you'll probably enjoy this game.
