An incredible game with fun gameplay and a story that can be both murderously funny and deeply moving. I loved playing the story and would happily play through it again and again. The only thing I didn't like was the driving, but that was pretty much it. I fell in love with the characters and how well written they were.

Horrible pc port and bad driving on pc! yes it has glitches and only way i made it to run on windows 10 is installing it on my c drive or it would get stuck at loading screen. other than that its a fun and funny game. I can say this is what gta should be even though i liked gta 5 with the graphics and new mechanics the story sucked. However just be warned about the possible issues u may have playing this game.
7/10 ( because of port and issues on pc if not 8.5/10)

Take Grand Theft Auto and put some ridiculousness into it, then you get Saints Row 2. I still come back to this game just because of the storyline and just utter crazy things. If you haven't taken out a septic truck and used it to spray you know what into buildings, then I don't what else to think of as crazy.

Do mind though that the PC port for this game is...less than stellar. I highly recommend mods like Gentlemen of the Row that fixes and enhances the game to be at least more than playable because crashes for the nth time is not fun. Also somehow the music in this game is reduced to cassette quality for this port but if memory serves, there is a mod to restore them back to their correct quality.

Saints Row 2 is much more serious than later games of the saga (e.g. no dubstep guns, zombie islands and other hilarious things). However, it doesn't mean it's less fun to play. Furthermore, I enjoyed playing the main campagin much more. So, here are my favourite things about Sants Row 2:
1. The city is constantly living - every person on the streets feels unique, with his own reactions to your actions, you can find people talking about the latest events happened in the game, there are skateboarders, street musicians, homeless people and much more. The town itself is not just a bunch of buldings put up together - every district is unique, a lot of places are playable (you can even visit the office of Volition, the developer of SR :) ).
2. The story makes sense. If you played SR: The Third/ SR 4, you know what I'm talking about ^_^
3. Humor - unlike in the later games, SR 2 doesn't need a crazy situation to occur in order to be funny.
4. Customization. It just works, it's fun to play with, and it gives your character some sort of unique style and, well, character :)
As for the conclution I should say that the game is very atmospheric, yet doesn't have any strict and "correct" playtrough, and altogether feels free and unobtrusive.

One of the best co-op games ever made.
One of the best open world games ever made.
One of the most funny games ever made.
One of the most memorable games ever made.
One of the greatest series's ever made.
...
...
One of the hands down most broken PC ports ever made.
One of the buggiest ports ever made.
One of the worst optimized games ever made.
One of the most difficult to fix games ever made.

But... thankfully Gentleman of the Row fixes (most of) the bad things, and adds some cool stuff.
Good buy, but be prepared to have to fix it, and most likely install the GotR mod.

tl;dr, good game but broken and buggy

pros: great voice acting, cool story, plenty of interesting things to do. I love the Saints universe.

cons: absolutely unplayable PC port from hell.

Seriously, I tried over and over to get this thing running. Installed user-written GotR mod, followed all instructions to patch. Deleted Windows pre-fetch files to allow driving in car at greater than 1 FPS (which only worked temporarily.)

But ultimately, the game just crashed SO often, and I lost so much progress despite saving the game like a chipmunk on speed, I couldn't take it anymore.

My advice, if like me you wanted this game to experience the backstory of the Saints, do yourself a favor and just watch the YouTube video with all the cut-scenes. You get the full story without this horrible, buggy, frustrating mess.

I can't remember another game that was this buggy. Not since the 1990's anyway. Complete waste of $10. I wish I had listened to the reviews of my fellow Steam players out there. Next time. Next time.

Actually I had more fun playing this title than playing Saints Row 3 or Saints Row 4 as you might noticed from my screenshots, haha.
Saints Row was always labeled as the GTA-clone, but is every gangster-open-world game a poor copy of Grand Theft Auto? I don't think so. And with the following games, Volition Inc definetily showed this by making them as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as possible, with super powers, giant ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and dubstep guns.
Saints Row 2 is just funnier in a more "subtle" way. I laughed when I had to drive around the city while a pensioner was playing hide the salami with a hooker on my backseat and saying: "I can't pay my rent now, but it was worth it." On the other hand, I didn't even have to smirk while i was penetrating hundreds of civilians with a monstrous steel-anal-spreader.
Just to clearify, I don't say SR3 and SR4 are bad games, I just think they (especially SR4) don't really fit in the universe SR1 and SR2 created. I bought all games at once and played them one after another, so I guess I am able to compare them pretty well.
If they are on sale, I recommend to just buy the collection.

XO
