The best Saints Row game made to this day.. The others are bigger and crazier but this one is the real deal.

It has the most alive city. There are lots of different individuals. People, constructions, cars and general theme changes from district the district. So you never get the feeling of hanging around same place over and over again.

Story is what it should be in an open world game. Three enemy gangs and you want to end them all. Simple. But the way they present it with missions is really impressive. There are lots of touching moments as well as action packed ones. In some mission I felt so angry that I find myself finishing all of the gangs mission in one play.

In my opinion GTA was always very linear. This one has three set of missions that you can do in whatever order you want. And if you are bored from doing it you have tons of funny activities.

Customization options are huge. For cars, gang and yourself. There are some crazy and useless ones but you could nearly create and ideal character for your taste.

So any cons? Yeah of course. Driving is kinda hard. Cars don't respond right most of the time and you feel driving a paper car or something. Graphics are out of date of course (which is not a problem for me because I have and old computer). Finishing activities can be so much hard sometimes, 6 level a bit hard, 3 is ideal I think. There are some bugs in some missions and graphics but they are not a big deal. And there are some problems with the default controls but I'm sure you can make it work. You get used to after a while.

In conclusion this game still has it. It has all the right touches. Yes it is an old game but still one of the best open world game I have played. I give it at least an 8 out 10. It is not expensive. So you should try it...

PS: You know what makes this game better, steam achievements.. And trading cards... Ohh I wish...
PS-2: I didn't play any other version of the game so I couldn't compare them. But this one worked just nice for my PC.

Some thoughts:
I played Saints Row 3 on the Xbox 360 and thought it was the best Saints Row ever (I did not play the others). Although it is a good game, Saints Row 2 is the better game. Why? It takes itself less seriously than GTA but it still has meaningfulness that Saints Row 3 and 4 lack. The gangs are realistic and the campaings are good, whereas the latter games are just crazy. They are fun, but that is pretty much it. Shaundi and Pierce look better in Saints Row 3, but in Saints Row 2 they are likable and are useful and fun to invite around the city. The driving sucks, but the customization is good. Plus, the cheats are better than Saints Row 3! I suggest getting it.... I expected less than Saints Row 3 and got more instead.

I bumped into a tacky stripper at my crib. My homies jumped in and beat her down to a pulp while her friends cried and cringed and huddled in the fetal position. As a female gamer, I approve. 110/10

Awesome game. Good controls, but driving is a bit oversensitive. Easily corrected with a mod called Gentlemen of the Row.

Evil, ugly and stupid - that is the story of how, as a person suitably crazy, you can change these disadvantages to advantages.

In short(because no one want to read a long ♥♥♥♥): Tons of playability resting on the bottom of the optimization. Nevertheless, this is so ♥♥♥♥ing great.

PROS:
★ In this game you create the character lurking in the darkest recesses of your mind,
★ And nobody can forbid you to strip her to get naked,
★ And then her hands drop people of the tallest buildings,
★ Pour into the streets "liquids" carried by septic truck,
★ Learn capoeira in the nearby surgeon,
★ Make a huge jump, then god give you money,
★ Run over and kill 50 people just to save one person,
★ Will fight a duel with the katanas,
★ Everything with playing Tears for Fears - "Everybody wants to rule the world" in the background,
★ Being a guy wear heels and do not kill yourself during the run,
★ And playing coop with a friend,
★ You'll find that the game can be in general release to the market.

CONS:
★ You can not play it on PC hardware with the twenty-first century,
★ Can not be precisely adjust the size of the breast,
★ The speed of the animation is sometimes not very constant,
★ While playing some may feel embarrassed,
★ The level of ugliness can scare even turpists,
★ It's not really a good gift for First Communion.

Would waste my time again.

Saints Row 2: A Jolly Good Open World Mayhem Simulator

The visuals have not aged all that well and I find the controls a bit wonky, but if you’re looking for some chaotic fun with an absolutely incredible sound track, this game will more than fit the bill and only set you back a couple bucks.

Saints Row 2 is, in my opinion, the best in series. While the original was clunky and the third and 4 moved in a new direction, the second game holds true to what the game is supposed to be: being a badass while taking over the entire city.

So you got blown up on a boat in the original game (which still hasn't made it's way to PC) and through the magic of science and technology, you're able to not only change your appearance, but also, apparently, your gender. You escape prison and are thrown directly into a gang controlled city while the Saints have long since been dead. It's your job to resurrect your former crew... or, you know, just run around, rob liquor stores, get high and screw around.

And that's what Saints Row 2 does best. It gives you an open playground to really just do whatever you want in. While newer games like GTA restrict the player to what they can actually accomplish, Saints Row just throws you into a living city, basically naked, and tells you "have at it". Go hold up a store and take that money to the casino and play some blackjack. Why not?

That being said, the game is dated and it shows. It's not the worst looking game, and mods are able to make it look better, but some mechanics are just tedious. Having to redo an entire mission because the police AI is acting stupid is a real chore. Forcing the player to do side quests to increase reputation so more main story missions can be done is a pain. No game should ever gate the player behind content through side missions and I'm glad to see that it was removed in newer installations.

For what Saints Row 2 is, a now 7 year old game, it still does a lot that even newer sandbox games are struggling with. It really is a shame that this series, in general, has had so much ups and downs. And the new direction being pushed is disappointing. But here's to good games that never get old, and let's hope we eventually see the original game on Steam.

Solid 8.5/10

Man, I got in on this game late. Just picked it up with its brother / sister products last sale, then didnt play it for a while. NOW I am all over it. Super fun, better than GTA though very like it. Cars can be pimped or tricked in many ways, clothes factor in and the system for designing your 'gangsta' or 'hoodrat' look is great.
If you like GTA Style then this is a must, and you will probably agree its even better!

Where do I begin? For starters, Saints Row 2 is a glorious game. It has amazing depth to the story and characters, moreso than the original game in my opinion. Saints Row: The Third ruined this franchise; if you're gonna buy one or the other, get the first two games. I know that this isn't my most lengthy review, but all I can really say is buy this. Now. Why aren't you buying it? DO IT!

When i was a kid i remember unboxing SaintsRow 1 for Xbox. I liked it so much that i decided to tell myself; I'ts better than GTA. When the second part got released it was even more better. I loved the Story and Gameplay, etc. Really SaintsRow 2 was the Best part of all. The Third and 4th are peanuts compared to this. Why? cuz the Story almost has nothing to do with the previous parts, not to mention the Gang battles, lel In the 4th Part there are madafaker aliens.. WTF.

SaintsRow 2 comes with an amazing (and serious) Storyline, a co-op mode aswell, and not to forget the GANG FIGHTS ALL OVER STILWATER!. You are supposed to feel like a hero in this and you are going to. You see how the Saints rise to a giant imperium. This was one of the very best games i ever played. I'ts a pity that THQ became bankrupt.

First off: If you want to play this game, you better get the "Gentlemen of the Row" mod, it makes this sorry excuse of a port work like a charm

I have to say I'm surprised at how good Saints Row 2 turned out to be, when it first came out I wasn't sure I wanted to play it due to so many calling it just a GTA clone, and for the most part they are right... This game plays and feels like GTA, for me it was like a mix between San Andreas and Vice City, and this is actually a good thing since it combined the best parts of both games.

On the other hand, the side activities and the not very smooth driving controls can get really frustrating at times, I found myself raging at a good number of side activities and unfortunatley killed my desire to go for 100% completition, that being said, I got so hooked onto this game I actually marathoned through it, it was really addictive

However, the side activities and the "respect" system made the game annoying at times, makes me appreciate the devs for implementing a proper RPG-ish leveling system for the sequels as it made every single activity fun to play on my own terms, unlike this game where you are forced to do side activities if you want the right to continue the story

Despite everything, this was a great game, left me with a sweet taste in my mouth, would love to revisit again sometime

This is probably one of my favourite games, ever.
Do you like open worlds?
Do you like feeling like a Bad-♥♥♥ thug?
Do you like crazy amounts of customization options?
Do you like a good and entertaining story?

Well if you are a human being the aswer to all those questions should be "yes."

With a fun mission and tons of side activities you can do, this game will give you plenty of fun for your money.
The only bad thing I have to say about the game is that it's not the best PC port ever, which is obvious given some of the controls, like when you scroll through the menus, however it doesn't take long to get used to it. I know it doesn't always run as smoothly on Windows 7, and I'm not sure if they fixed that as I went from XP and straight to 8. But I know that there is a fix or a mod you can download that fixes the problem.

So get ready to dress up as a Hot Dog, get stoned and drive around in a Limo while throwing grenades at old people.

This game deserves a 10/10, and if the port had been better it would have been an 11/10

SR2 is best played first if you want to get into the series on PC. You'll need the Gentlemen of the Row mod too because it fixes the bad port's problems but even then I still have had the game randomly crash at times. Overall the game is good, but its not nearly as fun as 3 and 4. Sure Stillwater is more interesting to explore and there's more customization options but the combat is rather bland. You only get crazy weapons until towards the end of the game so you're stuck with your standard sandbox arsenal and none of them really feel satisfying. Also its kind of feels like the series didn't find its identity yet and SR2 tries to balance being serious and silly and it doesn't really work. Personally I think people overhype this game, but its still worth playing.

Pros: The best Saints Row game in existence.

Cons: The worst PC port in existence.

The game is soooooo poorly made that even a GTX 980 + 6-core i7 overclocked to 4GHz can't run this game smoothly. One way to remedy is using D3Doverrider or RadeonPro to force triple buffering, but that will only do so much to help.

The Warrior's meets GTA in a mixed bag of mayhem and crap.
It feel like a cheap version of gta, it's not great but it's kind of fun at the same time.
The pc port suck .
Go download gentlemen of the row to get a better experience out of this crappy pc port.

7/10 Verdict: Still recommended

My favorite of the series, for having just the right balance of ridiculousness alongside a story that is actually pretty dark at times. It's not so out-there that you can't take it seriously when the plot demands it, yet it still has its silly moments.

Unfortunately runs like ♥♥♥♥ on PC; though you can still beat it. Definitely look up some of the mods that help optimize the game, though.
