I played Sanctum2 first and came to Sanctum backwards. I have to say, I really like the game play of one better than 2. The ability to upgrade personal weapons, the fact that towers also block the play field of view, and the televators is something I would have liked to see in 2. The one thing that I don't like about Sanctum is that you don't get the achievements for playing multiplayer. Personally, I enjoy these games more in multiplayer than in solo play.

One of the best tower defense games ever created. Though the sequel has more towers, more interesting towers, more characters to play, a lot of replayability (due to challenge modes), I still prefer this one because it is more fluid and feels easier to target things.

This game is great for two player co-op. It's more strategic and less furious action than team shooter games, so, I find, it is good for couples co-op play (husband and wife, or boyfriend and girlfriend). The game has action, with your character shooting down the incoming aliens, and also strategy, with your team building a maze of defensive towers and choosing which kind of towers. The goal of the game is stop the aliens from destroying your core (home base building). I find this can be a more satisfying, constructive goal than a goal of simply killing aliens (or killing other players). The game is nicely implemented and fun to play, as is its sequel.

This is easy the most fun tower defence game I have played. Awesome pace, simple controls, requires lots of forethought, but can be played in bite size pieces. Kudos to the designers...you made me very happy.
