Informazioni sul gioco

When Rosa Blackwell's only relative dies after twenty years in a coma, she thinks the worst is over.  This all changes when Joey Mallone, a sardonic ghost from the 1930s, blows into her life and tells her that she is a medium.  Whether they like it or not, it is up to them to cure the supernatural ills of New York in this critically-acclaimed series of point-and-click adventure games.
When three NYU students kill themselves one after the other, nobody thinks that a sinister force is at work.  Nobody but fledgling medium Rosa Blackwell and her new spirit guide Joey Mallone.  It's trial by fire as they set these troubled spirits to rest.

This game is pretty good. Predictably, my favourite thing about it is the main protagonist. Sarcastic, cynical, city dwelling, socially awkward, nerd chicks (and those who love them) are exactly the target audience for the game.
Overall enjoyable on all points, interesting and entertaining, just nothing spectacular.

The Blackwell Legacy was my first foray into anything put out by Wadjet Eye Games. To put it succinctly, I was not disappointed. This game is proof the point-and-click adventure genre is in the midst of a resurgance and not relying on the old stalwarts to do so.

You're thrown into things fairly rapidly in The Blackwell Legacy, but not so much that it feels too rushed. As Rosangela Blackwell, a down on her luck journalist scraping by in New York City, you're suddenly greeted by the spectre of Joey, a ghostly fellow who seems a few decades out of place. As the game progresses, you learn why Joey's decided to hang out with you, that you might be connected to him somehow, and what you and Joey are meant to do in the world. As it stands, New York City has a lot more going on behind the scenes than anyone expected.

I'm keeping things especially vague due to potential spoilers, but the story in The Blackwell Legacy is very solid. A tightly knit tale that lays out a spread of characters bound to return in future Blackwell titles, Legacy still manages to stand well on its own, proving more than just a mere set-up for the series. As for gameplay, it's fairly standard point-and-click fare, with the added twist of an online (in-game) search engine thrown in to both fit the setting and avoid more ridiculous combinations of exploration and item scrounging. It's a bit frustrating that you need to return to Rosa's apartment every time you need to conduct a search, but it's still handy having it available.

One of the biggest delights (and tips) going into things, at least for me, is how Joey and Rosa both have distinct abilities and uses for the various situations that come up. While you primarily control Rosa this time around, I highly recommend keeping tabs on Joey's wanderings around each scene, as these frequently tip you off as to things you need him to do to progress. That, and sometimes, it's just funny.

The voice acting is extremely on point, as are the visuals representing those voices and the writing behind them. The Blackwell games changed artistic hands as each follow-up was released, but the core style is always consistent and the entire thing feels like variations on a theme rather than hiring whoever was available.

Absolutely take The Blackwell Legacy for a spin, and save yourself a few bucks by getting the whole series bundle.

(Note: I'm aware my profile shows no achievements for this game despite having 14 hours on record. I'm not sure if I played it on another platform before it came to Steam, or played it on Steam prior to it getting achievements, or let it run at some point to collect the cards, but I submit this video as proof I have played the game through. While exhausted.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX5Zy56m3o0

Fine game to play a few hours, but a bit too annoying with commentator. Playing this game without this option is highly recommended.

Prima avventura di 5 episodi, piuttosto breve, con un paio di enigmi veramente mal fatti e con un impianto grafico molto grezzo..MA davvero appassionante e dai protagonisti azzeccatissimi. Promosso nonostante gli evidenti difetti.
