This has always been a fun game and I looked forward to playing a classic on PC. Pick up tricky customers against the clock and race across the city to deposit them (on time) and collect their fare, then race off for the next. Collect as much money as you can and try to earn your Class A license.
Great - except, on PC, forget it. :(
There are inexplicable lags and frame-dropouts. The game will have momentary freezes throughout. I should mention that I have an overclocked i7-4930K (12 logical cores), 6Gb Titan Black and 16Gb DDR but the performance is as reported in the forums - strangely poor). It doesn't make a lot of sense. However, this would be tolerable if it wasn't for the wrecked controls...
Sega have mapped the controller to digital keys for this (bad) PC port. There is no analogue control via gamepad, so touching the control stick lurches the car sharply full left or right (no gradual or easy turns), making it impossible to weave through traffic. There is NO gain in using a gamepad for this game whatsoever, and on/off digital controls merely give full 90-degree turn or no turn. Horrible.
It's a shame because this game has always been one of those entertaining lightweight games that was pretty flawless on console, but there is no joy to be found in this PC port. Avoid if you have the game on any other format (console and Android versions are much better).
