Why Early Access?

“The philosophy behind our development process is rooted in the collection of feedback from our users, and the rapid introduction of ideas that serve to make the gaming experience better. Early access allows us to deeply engage with consumers, while supporting the staffing required to get the job done right.

Given that we are empowering users with UGC tools, the early access program also allows us to identify potentially disruptive behaviors and unintended outcomes that could jeopardize the health of our community. Catching potential problems early and redeeming gamers that may choose engage in damaging behaviors in an early access setting will give us a strong standing, and a strongly united and healthy community, come launch.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're looking to release in November, 2018.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will allow for more creation tools, game types, and a robust system of community-curated UGC submissions. This means more creative freedom for our community, but with a commitment to egalitarian principles governed by an engaged and active community made up of people who love to build games, love to play games, and those who love participating in both.

Prior to launch, future updates will allow you to build, share, and play new Q.U.I.R.K. game types like:
  • King of the Hill
  • Sports Ball Arena
  • Capture The Flag
  • Tower Defense
  • And the many, many game types that will be suggested and created by our community.

While Q.U.I.R.K. master builders can currently share their levels directly with friends, we are on our way to building a full-featured UGC system using the Steam Workshop. For now, we'll be accepting new UGC submissions for death match arenas directly from the community.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“
  • Players can choose from an ever-growing, uGen curated list of UGC games to play solo, or with friends
  • Players can play all of our games cross platform on the PC or in VR using the HTC Vive
  • Players can build, share, and play their origninal death-match arenas with their friends
  • Players can submit levels to uGen for inclusion in future updates
  • Players can choose basic gender customization options
  • Players can level all the way up to level 14, unlocking new building assets at each level

“We'll be exploring the appropriate pricing options as we solidify our content updates, customization options, and most importantly the opportunities and expectations defined by the feedback we gather from our community.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is the corner stone of our development process. The 8 members of our team worked together to create core studio values that are referenced daily as posters on our wall. While we cover topics like Product Development, Working Together, Our studio values on community take center stage, and are as follows:

  • We're developing with the community as a partner, not simply as a consumer
  • We're not afraid to listen, capture, and enact community feedback
  • We are all responsible for contributing to growing a healthy community.

Q.U.I.R.K. Fall Expansion is Live: Sportsball, Avatar Customization, more colorful blocks, props and art!

The Q.U.I.R.K.Fall Expansion is live! We're currently distributing Q.U.I.R.K. via Steam's Early Access community, and should be considered as a video game in the late Alpha phase of development. You could experience some strange behaviors and exciting or unexpected features in this build.

We're looking forward to hearing your feedback and bug reports, so make sure to send a note to Support@ugenworld.com if you run into something especially tricky, or if you'd like some more intensive help getting around any tech issues we're not aware of yet.

    Welcome to Q.U.I.R.K.
    Q.U.I.R.K. is a game that PC and Mac gamers can play together, and it's compatible with the HTC Vive! Join coop matches against AI or go straight-up PVP! Directed by user feedback and fueled by user generated content, regular updates will give players more of the things they enjoy, and less of the things that suck.

    Currently, you can build and play multi-player death matches, capture the flag, sandbox, and sportsball games with an ever-expanding list of special weapons and in-game tools like:
    • Jet Packs
    • Bazookas
    • Stun Guns
    • Grappling Plunger
    • A wide variety of blocks and special art assets with a host of colors and functions

    Prior to launch, future updates will allow you to build, share, and play new Q.U.I.R.K. game types like:
