O tym DLC

Get into the plantation business! Construct new plantations for more workers and larger fields, choose the "Plantador" character trait for improved agricultural production and export prices and wear a sombrero. New decoration items include a water reservoir, a windmill, flower beds and trees. The mission "Research" challenges you to build a profitable industry while researching and unlocking new buildings as you go.

Key Features:

  • Building: Plantation - very large farm that can produce cash crops (sugar, tobacco, coffee). Houses more workers and has more fields than the normal farm
  • Character Trait: Plantador (Improved agriculture production and export prices)
  • Character Outfit / Vanity Item: Sombrero (for male and female avatars)
  • Mission Theme: Research - most buildings are initially locked, the player chooses which building to research and unlock first. The goal is to make a profitable Industry. Plantation is available from the beginning and may supply the industry with raw materials.
  • Decorations: Water reservoir, Wind propeller, Water tower, Flower bed1, Flowering tree1

The new building, Plantation, is a very useful addition to the game. The farm is larger and produces cash crops. It also provides a large number of jobs, making the game slightly easier.

Tropico 4: Plantador DLC Review

Plantador is the second DLC for Tropico 4. This DLC contains one costume for your avatar, one new building, one new extra mission, one new trait, and some decorations.

The extra mission is "Research". This mission is unique, as you can only build very few buildings at start, but you can research more buildings throughout the mission. You will choose what building you want to research. You will gain research points per month. Some objectives will give you more research points per month so the research speed will be faster. You will start with building an agriculture based economy while helping El Presidente uncover the mysteries in the Island of Aeonita. The mission is quite moderate in my opinion and should take you about an hour or so to finish.

The new building is the Plantation, which is a bigger version of the farm. It can only yield cash crops unlike the farm, but in a larger scale. Plantations can house 8 farmers, while farms can house only 6. Plantation costs $3000 while farms costs $1500. I frequently use plantation to plant my cash crops because it's more efficient in my opinion and will help the early phase of the game. The plantador trait is very good, it gives +20% cash crops export price and at 5 star, farmers will gain skill +50% faster. The other stuffs like decorations, and outfit is nice to have. Overall I think it's a pretty good DLC.

Plantador is a second DLC for Tropico. Yet another tiny stuff.

The mission is great fun, reminding me a bit of mission from Tropico 3: Absolute Power. You start on the island with almost no buildings available and have to choose what you want to be researched next. And one of the first available buildings is, you guessed it, plantador. But while it will be nicely tough at first and exporting argiculture will be the way to go, soon you will be able to just build your usual mines and oil wells and swim in money, easily quick-build rushing whatever mission demands you next.
It still tries to give you a challenge by sending a disaster at you every minute at the end of mission, but still nothing to stop El Presidente and his magical money that make buildings construct themselves.
But hey, at least it's fun while it lasts. And interesting. And mission isn't so linear either.

As for building itself, Plantador is a farm+, a bit better in everything, but it can grow only coffee, tobacco and sugar, which gameplay-wise aren't food, but raw material. Should be useful, since those exports bring good money.

The new building is a slightly larger farm that can only be used for coffee, tobacco and sugar. It renders the original farms useless for those crops, since plantations now do it better, essentially turning Tropico 4 into a pay-to-win game. So now you have the choice of using the inferior original farms or buying this overpriced DLC and doing it more efficiently.

This is another "cheating" DLC imo (like the Cement Plant) because it provides quite a few jobs and grows quite a bit of whatever crop you choose. It's almost a no brainer to build this right away instead of the standard farms.
