Why Early Access?

“We need to refine the online matchmaking, balance characters, and add more maps before we can call it a complete game. We need more feedback to do those things, so we’re doing Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Hopefully 6 months at most. We have a development plan on our site that lists what features we want to implement before release, and a tentative schedule.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We will be adding more maps, want to get character balance in a good spot before the full release, and take care of any bugs that are discovered. We will be making some tweaks to visual effects as well. Check out the development plan for more detail.”

“You can expect a fully playable game. The game is in a polished state, and the networked multiplayer runs very smoothly. The online matchmaking system is not yet refined.”

Patch Notes - V0.4.1

Minor patch tonight, on account of a couple of bugs I found. Also includes a couple of the updates I've made that aren't related to the new map patch.
  • fixed a bug introduced by the last patch, where a caught ball sometimes couldn't be thrown
  • fixed a bug where polly's fist could teleport you over boundaries
  • added secret freelook mode - hold Back(gamepad) or Backspace(keyboard) while unpausing
  • added small vulnerability window at the end of knockback- about 200ms, or 12 frames (assuming 60fps). This window allows you to hit them before the knockup ends, and before they can react, making knockup a much more useful mechanic.
  • Turrets are now affected by Max's poison

Patch 0.4 - Optimization

Optimization patch just went live! Not a very content-heavy patch, but I'm sure some will appreciate this:

-assets are now being preloaded, and more projectiles like balls are being recycled in memory, so the game should run noticeably smoother on older machines now.
-balls are now seen traveling when stolen by max, and added a little animation when you pick up a ball:





As a side note, we've met our dev timeline for our first few patches, but it looks like our next map won't be polished/ready for release by next week, so that date will be pushed back until we are really happy with the map. I also swapped the dates for updates v0.6 and v0.7, since we realized that would make much more sense. Get excited for the content coming soon!

Zomborg is a slow bruiser, excelling at guarding the middle and soaking up damage.


Lt. Justice has fantastic tools for overwhelming, constantly hurling his boomerang shield and backing you into a gravity bomb to set up for a kill.


Maxameleon gains the advantage slowly but surely. He can negate attacks while outliving his opponent as they weaken from his poison.


To master Zandra, perfect spacing is a must. The tip of her sword is especially deadly; swift and accurate combos allow Zandra to dominate the arena.

Metagalactic Blitz is a top-down physics based fighting game. Everyone shares some main dodgeball mechanics (throwing, dashing, and reflecting) and each character also has 3 powerful abilities unique to them.

Zomborg will be our example for abilities. He's a slow bruiser with an arm cannon. If his opponent is close, he can fire a shotgun to rack up damage.


Or, he can combo with his magnet pull for a point blank shotgun.


He can use these tools to zone the other player, by guarding the dodgeballs to gain the advantage.


If you didn't catch that, abilities require 1 power to use, which is gained from picking up a dodgeball. The balls are central to offense.

If his opponent is good at staying out of range, Zomborg can utilize his laser that charges passively over time to root them out.


As more damage is dealt, players are knocked back farther. Knocking them off the stage will eliminate them.
