This is to date the only "use your own music to make the levels" game I've played where I can't tell whether the levels are actually being based off of my music or not. If you like the actual gameplay and don't care about it being based on your music though, go for it.

This game is simply amazing. I don't even have to say alot. Just make sure you have some intense music and good headphones, to add to the experience. I would have payed full price without a question.

This game rocks literally, one of the best shooters I have played so far. the game is influenced by your own music tracks. The higher the tempo or intensity, the crazier the game gets. Non stop shoot 'em up action and as much intensity as you can handle with many different difficulty levels. You can also desing your own ships for the comunity to try out and compete on. i bought this during the Steam Summer Sale so i got a great deal on it too.

Total Score 9/10.

If you own Beat Hazard and like it and you also have a bit of spare money, this is definitely a thing you should go for.
Especially if you have any friends who like this game as well, it will be great to play with/against them in online mode.
The only real problem is that you need to have certain song and it must have the exact same name and length because there is no multiplayer song synchronization system which would take upload the song from host's computer and download it to the other player's computer.

TL;DR: Good thing to have if you have any friend to play this game with! :)

Amusing visuals that are synchronized to music, with strangely addicting gameplay...
for some reason I have played this more than most of my more expensive, higher quality games, so that just goes to show its addictive potential.
its cheap, just buy it

It's really a neccessity as the power ups and new enemies add half of the game's depth and Boss Mode is a must. The visuals are really just gravy and if you want to play online you need a friend. The perk system is most important as it's what will bring you back to the game for 20+ hours. The tracks are great. Go ahead and buy the mega bundle. The itunes and music file support is great too.

Instead of trying to make the game more accurate to the beat of your music, they threw a buttload of new powerups, weapons, and gameplay mechanics in. Now whenever you rank up you get to unlock a perk. Using in-game credits you get for playing songs you can upgrade these purchased perks (more mini-missiles, longer super lasers, etc.). This adds a lot more depth and replay value compared to the "classic" game (which is still accessable on launch) and compared to other rhythm games on steam.

I used to prefer Audiosurf but it has aged poorly and Beat Hazard has received loads of upgrades. This is my favorite rhythm game on steam and probably one of the best available because of all the work the devs have put into it. Thank you for last.fm integration!

The dev took his already excellent game and set the level all the way to eleven.

You get more types of enemies (bosses included), new perks and online multiplayer.

The online multiplayer features co-op and head-to-head modes and has a nifty feature: the game indexes the songs you have on your PC, usually the ones found in the same folders you've been playing. When playing against someone else, it compares both lists and any track that shows on both of them will be playable as well as the included ones.

It is well worth the 3,99€!

Beat Hazard Ultra is DLC for Beat Hazard, acting as an expansion pack which adds to the core gameplay. Like the base game, Ultra is a top-down procedurally generated shooter which takes your music files and generates waves of enemies that synchronize to the music. The purpose is to get a high score, while using various power ups (volume, multipliers, points, etc) to facilitate this score. As you play, there are a series of upgrades which can modify your game to allow for different challenges and playstyles.

Ultra adds some new weapons, enemy types, achievements, online play (both co-op and vs), a perk system, boss rush modes, leaderboards, and a few other small bits - it effectively completely reworks and adds to the game, while staying fundamentally the same at its core. If you enjoyed Beat Hazard, this is absolutely a worthwhile purchase.
