What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Angeldust is already rock-solid and packed with content. But awesome isn't good enough for us! So now you can tell us what to add, polish and perfect in our game and we'll listen.

Our frantic, fast-paced Steam Greenlight process was fun and helped us create the best game based off of your comments. We only showed videos and screenshots back then. Now you can get your hands dirty with the actual game. We hope you're as excited as we are!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are aiming for a development cycle of a few – three to six – months for adding new features and for tweaking and polishing existing content.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will feature new game mechanics and gameplay elements based on Steam community feedback. We believe the technical foundation of Angeldust is rock-solid and our distinctive cartoony art style is mostly fleshed out. Our efforts during Early Access will be focused on expanding the core gameplay of Angeldust and polishing existing game elements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Angeldust is perfectly playable and already features massively multiplayer / co-op exploration, battles and building. The game has been thoroughly tested on other platforms.

Angeldust has dozens of hours of content already for new players, features multiple end bosses and can be played for a long time to try and discover all creatures, areas and materials in the game. Being able to build cool things together with friends gives the game an almost infinite lifespan already.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Angeldust is currently Free-to-Play, but we will raise the price once we consider the product finished. Once we do that, we will give an advance notice.

Additionally: Angeldust does not and will not contain micro-transactions, sneaky in-app-purchases, DLC or Pay-to-Win mechanics. We believe Angeldust can be a 'pay once, play forever' product given your support.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our current, growing community communicates with the development team in very low-barrier ways like directly chatting with the lead developer during our daily live stream on YouTube and posting ideas and messages on the Angeldust website forums.

We believe that Steam offers very useful additional tools for communicating with our fans. The Steam Greenlight process has already proven that. We heard you and we listened to you!”

Angeldust v2.16 release notes

Here's the list of changes in Angeldust v2.16:

Giddy-up!
The headline feature of this update is horse riding! There are rumors of other creatures being rideable too.

Saddle up!
To ride horses (and potentially other creatures), you'll need the brand new saddle item from the shop. It's expensive, but it's the best way to show off your riches and status to fellow players.

Mount up!
You'll quickly notice that the saddle doesn't automatically get assigned to the item hotbar at the bottom of the screen. That's because it's bound to shortcut keys on all platforms, making it easy to mount and dismount:
  • The E-key on a keyboard
  • The top action button (Y) on a game controller
  • The 'saddle' button on a touch screen

Once you've mounted your creature, you can move around a bit quicker than on foot. You'll also heal gradually. But most of all, you will look cooler than ever before. Here's a scout horsing around on a race track built by Geldis:

Never gonna give you up!
Your mount will never run around and desert you. It's tied to your hero no matter what happens. Nobody can steal it or run away with it. You'll spawn with your most recent creature once you sign in to the game. Note that each of your four heroes has a distinct mount.

Segue into:
Here's an oft-requested feature. Artificial materials will no longer fade into natural materials. This allows you to create hard visual edges between your buildings and the game world. Build nicer gardens, pathways and castles:

It takes a bit of time getting used to, but after a while it's hard imagining the game any other way. We hope this change brings the building aspect of Angeldust more in line with your expectations!

Additional changes
  • optimized video RAM usage for heroes, horse, moa and wyrm
  • fixed occasional sprite flicker
  • improved hoof sound effect timing
  • improved item interaction interface
  • improved texture preloading and unloading

Angeldust v2.15 release notes

Here's the list of changes in Angeldust v2.15:

Stairways (to heaven)
This update adds stair blocks with over 25 different materials. Build straight or angled stairs to add lots of detail and depth to your builds. The entire Angeldust village has changed as well:

Conveyor belts and trampolines
Angeldust's game world used to be passive, but not anymore! You can now build animated, working conveyor belts and trampolines. Construct elaborate tours through your builds and make interesting parkour runs:

Claim your stake — once more
Land claims have been halved in price, from 2.000 to just 1.000 coins (players have been refunded the difference). You can now claim up to 64 lands, enabling a massive 256 x 256 block area to build on:

Scroll bars
The Angeldust user interface has been updated to include functional scroll bars. This makes navigation of screen much easier. You can now also use the 'Home' and 'End' buttons for scrolling:

Additional changes
  • added 25+ new chair and table blocks
  • improved message user interface
  • improved networking on broken firewalls and 'internet shield' software
  • improved village rendering performance
