I've played all previous Anno games and I've loved them all. It is a great game to relax at due to its slow nature. You can even turn off military actions within your skirmish game so you can focus on building up your city and anything you want. You can take as many islands as you wish and build a city and production on every one of them. Eventually you can get to build underwater production which is an exciting addition to the game and a wonderful idea. Even after multiple hours of game time you can't actually finish building everything because there is simply so much to do and build. An other great improvement is the graphics that looks stunning and therefore screenshots and videos from it are beautiful.

Anno 2070 is a complex game it takes a RTS (real time strategy) to a new level. But if you love building cities, having limited resources, and limited land this game is for you. Took me more then a few restarts to get a feel for this game but its so beautiful when it all comes together. Its all about making do with what your granted and balancing it with the environment, and keeping your citizens happy with supply and demand so they can improve so you can improve. Also lets not forget about the trade because that island next you more then likely has something you want be it rice, sugar, oil you get the idea. This game is a must for any true die hard RTS gamer or even the casual RTS gamer but don't get your panties in a bunch cause you fail. You need patience and understanding and the willingness to scrap your game and start over to achieve greatness in this game.

I bought this game and another one called "From Dust" today under the foolish assumption that they would be delivered and enjoyed through Steam as I intended. SILLY ME!! Turns out Ubisoft has this terrible "UPlay" DRM garbage like Origin, Battlenet etc. that makes you sign into a bunch of extra stuff, extra processes running on your computer for no good reason, forced to be online to play, etc. etc.

UBISOFT, you will never get another red cent from me! SO GLAD this was all super dirt cheap sale stuff I bought.

This game would probably be pretty good if I was able to actually start the god damn game. Long story short, ♥♥♥♥ Ubisoft and ♥♥♥♥ Uplay.

My mind is twisted about this game. Sure, it looks fantastic and at first glance has a lot of depth. After I bought it I was very excited of finally calling it my own. But that's where the trouble started. The Ubisoft launcher is a catastrophy to put it mildly. It took hours for countless updates to install and I had to enter my serials three times. Needless to say that my excitement about the game shrank considerably. The whole point of buying games on steam for me is to avoid all the nasty installation procedures, click a button and more or less start playing. The only good news here is, that after going through the hellfire of the initial installation the launcher is less agonizing. Still it may take 10 Minutes to just launch the game. Big fail.

When you can FINALLY start to play you're pretty much on your own in a world you know only little about. There's a campaign mode which I tried to start with. Quickly I ran into trouble just because I couldn't figure out what to do in order to fulfill the goals. The game doesn't teach you at all. I abandoned the campaign mode and went for the sandbox. Youtube videos on how to play the game helped me to make some progress and pretty soon I settled on a bunch of islands doing great. The game became fun! Big plus ...

But that was about all I got. The game just became stale. There was nothing left to do. So the few moments of excitement went away and now I can't be bothered to turn the game on again. What a shame, but this game is honestly one of the most boring and repeatative games I have ever played. Despite it's beauty and appearant depth, there just isn't much of a challenge left to it once you've played for a few hours.

So I'm sorry to say that I can't recommend this great but utterly boring game. The ubisoft launcher alone kinda kills it to begin with, but the gameplay just didn't manage to excite me enough to forget about this.
