What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The goals of Early Access are to gather and incorporate player feedback to improve the game. Early Access players are essential in shaping the future of Legion TD 2.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in Early Access for approximately 6-9 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Legion TD 2 has weekly content updates, so in some sense, the game is never "complete" - we're excited to improve the game for years to come. The following features are planned during Early Access:
  • More units and legions
  • Enchantments - Pre-game specs
  • Powerups - In-game upgrades
  • Localization - Translation the game into other languages
  • Guilds
  • Spectator

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Legion TD 2 is a fully playable, polished game, featuring:
  • 100+ unique units
  • 4 playable legions: Mech, Grove, Element, and Forsaken
  • Mastermind: Randomized fighters (a.k.a. "Prophet")
  • 4v4 skill-based matchmaking
  • Reconnecting
  • Anti-leaver/AFK/griefer detection
  • Practice mode against bots
  • Custom games for tournaments, inhouses, and 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 games
  • Leaderboards, achievements, player profiles, and stat-tracking

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will not be priced differently during Early Access with the exception of occasional discounts. After Early Access, we may consider a free-to-play option if it's something players want.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are incredibly active and responsive on our community forums and Discord channel. We constantly communicate with players on game balance, design, and other issues to make the game the best it can be. We've made countless changes and resolved over 1,000 bugs due to player feedback.”

v1.68 Patch Notes

Game Updates

Wave Info
- Improved wave info window to show attack/armor types as well as made it more condensed

Game Balance

- Deploying fighters in the mid lane now causes the delay lane to gain the Haste buff (+15% attack speed to creatures and mercenaries)
- Killing a unit in the mid lane now rewards the gold to the player whose lane the unit spawned in, which may or may not be the player who killed the unit

There are currently two strategies that “break” cross and make it frustrating to play against. The first is delaying one lane to battle each wave separately. The second is having an incomer and builder. The incomer rushes workers, while the builder rushes expensive splash fighters like Pyro, Deathcap, and Banana Haven. By nerfing these two strategies, we’re encouraging players to play as equal partners. Ultimately, what makes cross fun is building together with a friend.

Now deals slightly less area-of-effect damage and slightly more single target damage to big units
- Judgment mana cost: 15 -> 16
- Giant Slayer: 3% -> 3.5%

- Health: 230 -> 220

- Health: 910 -> 900

- Damage: 90 -> 89

- Health: 3550 -> 3500

- Nature’s Touch: Damage reduction per stack: 3 -> 4

- Raise Imp: Mana Cost: 9 -> 8

- Health: 3400 -> 3500

- Health: 3500 -> 3600

v1.67 Patch Notes

Matchmaking Updates

Rating Decay
- Players rated higher than 1400 who haven’t logged on in 28+ days will lose 1 rating point per day
- Does not affect players 1400 rating or below

Estimated Queue Time
- Now more accurate; takes into account party rating

Client Updates

- #rooms now shows Game ID to help with debugging

Game Updates

Pathing & Targeting
- Units are smarter about not running ahead when there are still units to fight (Expanded Call For Help to include units who are currently attack-moving)

- Potentially fixed the Black Screen Bug (where the UI would turn to black or yellow and HUD elements would flicker on the screen)
- Fixed a bug where the game would freeze after pressing 'Continue' after a match (Added some exception handling if log zipper fails)

- Fixed a bug where enemy units would get stuck in the spawn area after being in combat in the spawn area

- Fixed a bug where using "-open" would cause waves to stop spawning

Game Balance

In the future, our goal is to have a Mastermind-only ranked queue, but we need more players to implement that. We are growing the team from 2 to 4 and constantly improving the game with new content and features. We are confident we can grow the Legion TD 2 playerbase 10x or more. For now, we are just buffing Mastermind to make it more viable.
- Wave 1 preparation timer: 70 -> 90
- You are now guaranteed one T1-T3 Arcane fighter

It's like a tower defense, but instead of building towers, you deploy dynamic fighters that come to life and move, attack, and cast spells automatically. Defend your lane against waves of enemies and hire mercenaries to attack your opponents. To win, you must defeat the opposing team's king before they defeat yours. From start to finish, a match lasts around 25 minutes.

Legion TD 2 is the standalone sequel to the hugely popular Warcraft III mod, Legion TD, which inspired StarCraft II’s Squadron TD and Dota 2’s Legion TD: Reborn. Legion TD 2 is made by the same team that created the original mod.

Legion TD 2 is made by an indie team of 2 best friends: Brent 'Lisk' Batas and Julian 'Jules' Gari. Lisk and Jules have been best friends for over 20 years and have been playing and designing games together since they were kids.
