If like me you enjoy this type of game DO NOT bother with this, The only way they have given it any degree of difficulty is by borking the control set up, I've tried to enjoy myself with it but have been continuosly handicapped by controls that are unresponsive and often moving in the opposite direction to the command given, Life after life was lost because these Dev's seem to be incapable of giving it accurate mouse control. A complete waste of your time and money.

Do you remember the old arcade game Qix? Of course you do - you grew up in the early 1980's arcades like i did. Fortix is a lot like Qix, but about three or four levels of evolution beyond that. Your avatar's goal is to claim areas by moving (drawing lines) around them, while avoiding monsters and artillery which attack him. So long as he's on a claimed area, he's invulnerable, but claiming new areas requires sallying forth into danger. Played through the whole thing in only 2 sittings, but it's still got 3 more difficulty levels to get through. Playable with a single hand, though i highly recommend the keyboard for movement (arrow keys), rather than the mouse.

PS: was Linux support removed? Though i have it on Linux, the Store Page is no longer showing the system requirements for Linux. There's no indication of such in the product history.

The basic formula from the original Fortix carries on into Fortix 2. You draw lines to capture area on the play space in order to take down towers, capture dragons and secure objectives.

Fortix 2 doesn't add enough variety of gameplay or deviate far enough from the original game to distinguish itself. Which causes it to feel like a map pack instead of a evolved sequel.

A painfully hard Xonix variant. If only we could make an "inward edge" to exclude bat caves when capturing!

It's an ok game, but i was expecting more. It's basically just qix with a medievel theme. If the game was more orginal i would consider giving it a thumbs up. Still kind of fun if you want to buy it when it's on sale. Not worth the full price. It's also buggy, at least on windows 8.1

A cute reverse tower defense game

Pro:
Graphics
Price
Cards & achieves
Demo
Low system spec
Often on sale
One of the few indie games that are actually good at release

Con:
And those promised DLCs are where?
After an hour and a half I was bored silly.
This is one of those games that just cries out for the workshop
Not as good as F1

Overall:
5/10 +2 demo, +1 price, +1 cards, +1 often on sale, -2 gets boring quickly = 8/10
For $2.19 less what you can sell the cards for, this is a fun way to pass an hour or so,

This game in 5min
https://youtu.be/7NpN7cgfdKA

your greedy knight is back to take 17 more kingdoms (the 1st 12 are here also)
you run around on lines that you "own" on the board and you take land by squaring it off.
dragons and towers will try to kill you when they find you off your land.
when you venture out some dragons will come at you and/or shoot fire at you.
there is also the towers that will fire on you, and bats when your destroy their den they follow your lines.
if any of these touch you or your line when your taking land your dead and the bat will just kill you if they touch you on your own land but can not follow you out.
water, cliffs, lava, sand, and some other obstacles will slow you down, then there are also impassable walls (dragons can fly over these).
castles also have locked gates and you'll have to "take" the key to unlock it.
if you take a catapult you'll launch a rock and take out one of the towers.
you win by destroying all enemies and/or taking key points on the map.

It's a land grab/fence off to conquer game with a bit of bullet hell mixed in (avoid the enemies + projectiles). Nice visuals and sound, essentially no story. Keyboard is pretty necessary for refined controls though mouse is an option.

There are plenty of levels but the game is simple enough that you can brute force many levels by just bisecting the map in half. Since you're immune to most enemies/projectiles while not capturing new territory you can play it safe and take lots of tiny chunks until you reach the other side. Later on walls and gates often make it impossible to halve the map but it feels good when you can eliminate a bunch of things at once.

The things that change your approach are enemy locations, slowing terrain, impassable walls, locked gates/keys, and magic orbs (you can't capture land with one inside). There are also some timed powerups that can make levels a lot easier if you get them at the right time (like the ability to fly over walls).

There's also a zombie mode that I believe uses the same level terrain as the main mode but has the spin that you can be killed on the line and that zombies continually spawn from the gravestones (so you can get overwhelmed if you wait too long).

I haven't played this kind of game before (outside of maybe a Mario Party minigame?) so I found it fun enough to play through. Worth a look if you like action puzzlers although here you're mostly thinking about your route and the rest is execution.

This is quite the little gem here. It being one of the cheapest games on steam with trading cards I bought it thinking I would just get the cards and uninstall it into the deep unkown realms of my game library.

However out of boredem (and a lack of internet connection or power) I gave it a shot and I must say this truly a fun game. At first I was like DA FUQ ARE THESE CONTROLS, AINT NO ONE GOT TIME FO DAT. But then I switched the controls to keyboard and it was much better and I reccomend anyone who plays this to use the keyboard instead of mouse.

As soon as I got the hang of it I was hooked. Yes the graphics are 2D and not anything worth mentioning but it played very smooth and the controls were very responsive.

The goal of the game is like a reverse tower defense; you hae to destroy turrents and capture land by creating squares of land until you reach the turrets. Along the way (higher levels) things such as dragons and bats are introduced which invoke a feeling of "♥♥♥♥ I thought I was good at a game for once" or "Damn ♥♥♥♥♥ I JUST ATE". But let me tell you that as annoying as these ♥♥♥♥ers are (particulary bats), they add alot more dynamic gameplay to the game.

1st hour of playing I liked it.
2nd hour of playing I loved it
3rd hour my ♥♥♥♥ was out and hard
4th hour Cops called, I left my shades up while masturbating vigoriously.
5th hour I got ♥♥♥♥♥ by some black dude named Truck

The painting of this game as "reverse tower defense" demonstrates an utter lack of understanding firstly of what tower defense means, and secondly, of the long and storied history of Qix and it's many many clones.

Make no mistake, this game has nothing to do with the tower defense genre, and everything to do with being a shameless re-imagining of the classic 8-bit game Qix. That sounds like it would be a bad thing, but the truth is that Qix was a rad game when it released in 1981, and Fortix 2 truly feels like what would happen if the developers of Qix had time-traveled 30 years into the future at the start of development.

Qix featured a simple mechanic, slickly implemented, with a presentation that was unremarkable but serviceable for its day. The exact same thing is true for Fortix 2. This is not a complicated game, but it is a great implementation of a simple mechanic. The difficulty curve is pitch-perfect, making finishing a level without losing any lives achievable but challenging.

Fortix 2 isn't going to blow anyone away, but it does an excellent job of filling that spot in your Steam library for a game that doesn't ask for much in the way of investment, and can be consumed in 5-minute increments while still feeling rewarding, and for $2 or less, you can't really ask for more.

"Fortix 2 is best described as a reverse turret defense game", claims the store page. Well, no -- it's more accurate to say that Fortix is a Qix clone.
That's not a bad thing, though. I had been looking for a quick Qix fix for a while, and didn't find much save for an extravagantly priced "update" on XBLA (£11 with DLC, and it's ugly and short to add insult to injury).

In Qix/Fortix, you move on the periphery of the game arena. Leaving that periphery leaves you vulnerable, but that's how you conquer terrain: once you have traced a line dividing the non-conquered map in 2, the smaller half becomes yours. Basic risk/reward system: the payoff for tracing a long line is potentially high, but getting greedy is how you'll die most of the time.
Fortix 2 brings some variation to that classic formula and wraps the whole thing in cute graphics. I recommend it to fans of the classic Taito game or anyone looking for a chill arcade game.

I always loved Qix and the many simular ones, so I was bound love it. I wouldn't call it a reverse tower defense tho. But let's leave it at that. Now about the game itself. The grafix are great and rather adorable. A 30 level addictive challenge. I find this game highly enjoyable and for this price; it is a must get!! If you played the first one than you can consider Fortix 2 the improved version. The gameplay stays the same but the grafix are better and more challenging levels..

Fortix 2 is a direct sequel to Fortix. The gameplay is essentially the same. Graphics are improved and the maps are more challenging. One nice addition is you now have to collect keys to open the next part of the map. This makes each map longer and more difficult. The game has a high amount of replayability as you will want to get a "perfect" rating for each map. Addictive and a lot of fun, for $1.99 you will easily get a bunch of hours sunk into this little gem.
