The painting of this game as "reverse tower defense" demonstrates an utter lack of understanding firstly of what tower defense means, and secondly, of the long and storied history of Qix and it's many many clones.

Make no mistake, this game has nothing to do with the tower defense genre, and everything to do with being a shameless re-imagining of the classic 8-bit game Qix. That sounds like it would be a bad thing, but the truth is that Qix was a rad game when it released in 1981, and Fortix 2 truly feels like what would happen if the developers of Qix had time-traveled 30 years into the future at the start of development.

Qix featured a simple mechanic, slickly implemented, with a presentation that was unremarkable but serviceable for its day. The exact same thing is true for Fortix 2. This is not a complicated game, but it is a great implementation of a simple mechanic. The difficulty curve is pitch-perfect, making finishing a level without losing any lives achievable but challenging.

Fortix 2 isn't going to blow anyone away, but it does an excellent job of filling that spot in your Steam library for a game that doesn't ask for much in the way of investment, and can be consumed in 5-minute increments while still feeling rewarding, and for $2 or less, you can't really ask for more.

Fortix 2 is a direct sequel to Fortix. The gameplay is essentially the same. Graphics are improved and the maps are more challenging. One nice addition is you now have to collect keys to open the next part of the map. This makes each map longer and more difficult. The game has a high amount of replayability as you will want to get a "perfect" rating for each map. Addictive and a lot of fun, for $1.99 you will easily get a bunch of hours sunk into this little gem.

Simple, yet challenging. Addictive in an old school tetris kind of way. Definitely worth a couple bucks. Just don't click the High Scores page as it insta-crashes to desktop.

Lovely little indie game with gameplay i have not experienced since Stix on Commodore 64.

Gameplay in short: Run around and 'conquer' area by 'painting' until you have taken over the objectives in each mission. Watch out for bad guys and um... 'Greed is good' in this game as the more you try to grab the better if you can avoid the bad guys well enough.

Only bad side is the obvious limitation to the game concept: eventually you have seen all enemy types and a been there - done that feeling kicks in. At that point all you can do it crank the skill level up and play some moar. Not that it matters that much because by the time you reach this you have already seen the best parts of the game and you can say it was a good buy.

Simple, but very amusing game! As a heroic knight Fortix you will face the evil sorcerer that has captured your homeland. You will be fighting against cruel monsters. The game offers 30 basic levels, but after completing them it doesn't ends! It will open another 30 classic levels and more difficulities! Can you beat all the parts of game? :)

Story: YES.
Achievements: YES.
Graphics: CUTE, BUT YES.
Difficulty: QUITE CHALLENGING!
Leaderboards: YES.

For me - 5*. I would deffinitely recommended playing of that game!

Fortix 2 Review - Raymond K. Turcotte

When i first saw Fortix 2, i was dissapointed for many reasons. The Graphics were different, it's too colorful and it looks like a childs game. Now that i have returned to it, and avoided my previous opinion of the Game. It's somewhat enjoyable. It's not half bad actually. I like the fact that you can actually "Run" in this game rather then the first one. They also added keys, sheilds and New power ups. I understand that a "New" company took it over, 'I get it', i'm just a little sad about that. I love the first one, but not so much the second one. I myself wouldn't recommend this game. But i'm gonna say if you bought Fortix 1 first you will have the same opion as me. But hey' it's decent

I recommend this, if you haven't played the first one. If you have, you won't want to play this.

Much cleaner and easier to play than the first, I liked tons more. It manages to up the challenge with new enemies and chanlenges and it includes the maps from the first one so you can enjoy them on the new engine. For $2 it's a great arcade game.

Quite good. The levels are generally more difficult and interesting than the first game. There's plenty of opportunity to replay levels at higher difficulties and to get perfect scores, etc.

Fortix 2 is an upgrade in my opinion to classic Qix. Why? It has a storyline and more variance. The game's concept is simple: you mark off pieces of land for capture. However, when you are in the process of marking your captured land, you are vulnerable. The top thrill in this game is deciding if/when to take calculated risks. There are times where you'll be on the edge of your seat wondering if a cannon is going to fire just before you finish your newly captured area. Of course there are subtle strategies here that you'll eventually figure out to make you a pro. If you have never played Qix, pick this up as you should experience this style of game. If you have played Qix, this game is an improvement. Also, you don't need Fortix 1 as this game included Fortix 2 in its "classic" mode.

Como a própria pequena análise descrita da venda do jogo, você é Sir Fortix, o cavaleiro que deve conquistar "castelos" (que seriam áreas em formas de escudo pelo mapa do jogo), enquanto foge de:
1 - Balas de canhão arremessadas pelas torres espalhadas pelo mapa, que já digo de passagem, pegam a tela inteira, e só (e já tá de bom tamanho viu, hehehe);
2 - Dragões de toda espécie e cor: verdes, brancos, dragões esqueletos, pretos. Que só perambulam pelo mapa, que soltam bolas de fogo, que soltam bolas de fogo triplas, vixe, é um horror ! ;
3 - Bat-cavernas (?) que soltam morceguinhos que ficam te perseguindo pra todo lado;
Recomendo !!!

This is quite the little gem here. It being one of the cheapest games on steam with trading cards I bought it thinking I would just get the cards and uninstall it into the deep unkown realms of my game library.

However out of boredem (and a lack of internet connection or power) I gave it a shot and I must say this truly a fun game. At first I was like DA FUQ ARE THESE CONTROLS, AINT NO ONE GOT TIME FO DAT. But then I switched the controls to keyboard and it was much better and I reccomend anyone who plays this to use the keyboard instead of mouse.

As soon as I got the hang of it I was hooked. Yes the graphics are 2D and not anything worth mentioning but it played very smooth and the controls were very responsive.

The goal of the game is like a reverse tower defense; you hae to destroy turrents and capture land by creating squares of land until you reach the turrets. Along the way (higher levels) things such as dragons and bats are introduced which invoke a feeling of "♥♥♥♥ I thought I was good at a game for once" or "Damn ♥♥♥♥a I JUST ATE". But let me tell you that as annoying as these ♥♥♥♥ers are (particulary bats), they add alot more dynamic gameplay to the game.

1st hour of playing I liked it.
2nd hour of playing I loved it
3rd hour my ♥♥♥♥ was out and hard
4th hour Cops called, I left my shades up while masturbating vigoriously.
5th hour I got ♥♥♥♥♥ by some black dude named Truck

This game is sooo enjoyable! its also srsly a good choice if you dont want to use your mouse! I play it on my toaster lap top, it works smoothly and its alot of fun. For those older gamers if you remember the game called "JezzBall", well this is the improved version of that one :) Its 1$ at the moment and its more than worth it!

"Fortix 2 is best described as a reverse turret defense game", claims the store page. Well, no -- it's more accurate to say that Fortix is a Qix clone.
That's not a bad thing, though. I had been looking for a quick Qix fix for a while, and didn't find much save for an extravagantly priced "update" on XBLA (£11 with DLC, and it's ugly and short to add insult to injury).

In Qix/Fortix, you move on the periphery of the game arena. Leaving that periphery leaves you vulnerable, but that's how you conquer terrain: once you have traced a line dividing the non-conquered map in 2, the smaller half becomes yours. Basic risk/reward system: the payoff for tracing a long line is potentially high, but getting greedy is how you'll die most of the time.
Fortix 2 brings some variation to that classic formula and wraps the whole thing in cute graphics. I recommend it to fans of the classic Taito game or anyone looking for a chill arcade game.

This is a fantastic game. It's very fun and easy to learn but with a degree of difficulty that ramps up nicely. The graphics are much nicer than expected and really draw you into the game. I've spent a few hours in the game already and I'm still only on easy mode and there's just so much more of the game left to play.

For only 1,99 Euro this game is fun.
It can be played by anybody.
It's simple gameplay like it's older predecessors, but with better graphics and few more options.
It even has achievements and trading cards.
8/10.

Older gamers will recognize Taito's Qix... and this is a good thing. Add all that story icing, mild inverted tower defense and colorful graphics and you got a nice game for only 1.99$... sweet deal if you consider there are trading cards and achievements as well...
