I was given this game as a gag gift, but I figured I'd write an honest review anyway! At the beginning you're just given a horse, and you can't even name it or pick its appearance. You brush and groom it a little and it magically grows up in one game day. You train your horse and make money by taking it on errands, which all consist of either waiting at a screen while the horse goes off and delivers a letter or something, or occasionally pressing the arrow keys when a spinning arrow appears above the horse's head on obstacle courses that all look exactly the same as one another. It's pretty annoying that the game only gives me a 99% at the beginning and not a 100% on the obstacle courses, even though I got 12 out of 12 perfects, giving me a telltale sign that the math used in the game's code is a bit wonky.

In addition, the fact that you must breed your horses to level up is not intuitive at all, and means that you have to keep using different horses instead of specializing in your favorites, especially at the beginning of the game, so you can't even really get attached to them. There are also a lot of things that don't make any sense in this game; for example, to get more space for horses, you don't upgrade the stable, but instead you upgrade the well (Huh?). Also, when you upgrade your buildings, they barely look any different, with some of them only changing their color scheme; that as well as not being able to choose your horse's name and appearance are major letdowns since I love customization.

I wish I could say that, out of everything, at least the graphics are okay, but even they come off as very cheap - despite the 3D - especially since the backgrounds of the obstacle courses obviously just repeat after a few screens. The models of the horses all look the same, with separate horse breeds just being colored differently. My male fire steed (which was randomly named Katelyn for some reason) has the same build as the first horse I was given, and doesn't even react negatively to me washing it with water despite its fiery genes, which would've been a neat effect to add. When I bred my two level 1 horses Alane, the unicorn, and Katelyn, the fire steed, I got a level 2 unicorn who looks exactly like Alane, not some cool-looking hybrid of the two, which is odd given that all that would be necessary is a simple texture swap or combination like any of their other horses. Very disappointing.

The music is extremely generic: there's only one track that continuously plays throughout the entire game, and it's just low-key happy music, nothing memorable. The tutorials are also extremely annoying since they show up every single time you enter each area, whether you've already read the tutorial or not. The quest notifications are very slow, with each one lasting a few seconds. Problem is, you'll be sitting and waiting on 9+ notifications when you have multiple horses out on quests. And, last but not least, the precision is terribly off, making it very hard to give your horse potions or groom it without it moving around everywhere and forcing you to try every little spot that might trigger the correct action. Thus, altogether, the game is very unpolished, having about 12 hours of gameplay - from what I hear - of doing the same things (waiting at a screen and hitting arrow keys) over and over again. Definitely a funny gag gift to give to your friends as a joke, but, as to be expected, the game itself is not very fun. It does have a charm to it, though, being a cutesy game for young people.

I have the most magical horses of the land.

Someone bought this for me as a joke. I only played for like half an hour, but there is not really more than half an hour worth of gameplay, so it hardly matters. You do some very rudimentary mini-games to power up your horse and then take it to race. You do not get to control the horse in the race, or even watch the race, which is the only thing that might have been entertaining. If you have a tremendous love of horses, and would be entertained by watching pretty ponies stand around and whinny for hours on end, I guess this would be entertaining for you. Otherwise, I can't imagine anyone really enjoying this. Even little girls who love horses would probably burn out pretty fast.

This game is horrible! The whole thing was in French, even though I picked the French option did the ENTIRE thing have to be French? I don't speak French! My beautiful princess horse, TheAfroMonkey, pulled logs as hard as my erection was for him. He had a bow on his hindside that just begged for taking. My one wish was to ride Afro harder than a nascar driver, my hopes and dreams were crushed because you can't race the deer without the expansion. The plot was also terrible and the UI didn't make sense. 8/10 would play again.

I'd like to start off by saying that I've actually beaten this game.
Second, I should note that I'm a horse person. I've been riding hunt-seat for quite a few years now, and consider myself fairly well-versed in equine knowledge. But you don't need a lick of knowledge to play this game.

You got this game from a friend, didn't you? Probably during the Winter or Summer sale. Because no one in their right mind would buy this game for themself, unless it was to occupy a seven year-old for a while.
But whatever. It's in your library now. And if you want to 100% it, you have to beat it. And to beat it you need five level 5 horses of each different breed.
The objective of the game is straightforward. Get the magic crystals. It took me about 20 hours to accomplish this, but I bet it could be done faster.
The game is simple. Buy a horse, wait for it to be an adult, train it to max, breed it, sell it, rinse and repeat. It just takes a very, very long time since you can't breed a level 5 horse with another horse.
Each level 5 horse requires sixteen level 2 horses, eight level 3s, and four level 4s. All of which need to be trained fully. Each training segment is a simple DDR-ish sequence that takes maybe a minute and a half each time. You have to train a horse six times for it to be fully trained.
And you have to do this with every. Single. Horse.
Obviously, this is a good game to play while watching Netflix or YouTube on a second monitor or something. There's quite a bit of waiting involved, so if you want to catch up on a series while you play, this is the best game to do so in.

Some things you should know about the game:
- save files don't transfer from computer to computer
- there's a crap ton of Engrish in this game
- the game will pause if you click out of the window

But, I suppose it all comes down to this: Did I have fun playing it?
And to that I say: Yeah, I guess. Give this to your young siblings and let them have fun with it.

Some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gave me this game as a joke but jokes on him I met the love of my life, took care of her when she needed me, forced her to fornicate and produce offspring for my own twisted pleasure, and then sold her off and used to proceeds to buy a new love and start all over.

I need help.

It's like Dark Souls, but more difficult. And with ponies.

I am surprised that this game is not rated Mature, because there is a LOT of horsey snu snu.

Do not play this game unless you are ready for a true challenge!!!!!

Do not buy this game for yourself. Buy it for that guy you have a raging hate-on for but can't confront directly. Make sure your gift message includes disparaging comments about how inadequate his skills are for the task of raising the ultimate magical pony. Study his weaknesses in advance so you know how to effectively goad him into installing and running this glimpse into Pony Hell. Know that every second he spends in the game is a second when your life is better than his, even if you are undergoing a root canal at the time. Rejoice.

This game has everything needed in a successful video game: love, drama, comedy, action...

It truly has transcended our generation's understanding of what makes a video game. This is something more; this is the quintessence of artistry in a digital medium. There are little words to express the absolute majesty of this game, from the cutting edge graphical quality to the intricate character detail with every well-purposed polygon to shape a beautiful beast on the screen.

This video game will no doubt continue on for generations to be remembered as one of the art masterpieces of the 21st century, much like the works of William Shakespeare, Vincent Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Stephanie Meyer, and J. K. Rowling.

Truly the capability to own such a game for the price of $4.99 is a steal, but if you manage to acquire it at its sale price of $0.99, you should be reported for theft for even attempting to get away with such a heinous crime.

Truly, in short, this game is no doubt underappreciated, as it is ahead of its time. Aptly said, this game is like Batman: it's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. Perhaps in a world where chauvinist bigotry is not the societal norm, we can all learn to appreciate this game for its truly artistic nature.
