While I personally moved on to different games, and have put this one to rest, there's a reason that it's my most played game on steam. It's fun and colorful, but don't let the child-like creativity decieve you : it takes a large amount of skill to truly get good. Most of the newer updates I personally disliked, but it can still be enjoyable for thousands of hours of playtime.

This game is a great game for steam players who have never played an FPS game in their life. But once you buy a real FPS, you automatically move on from this stupid game. It is also not for serious people, as this game is all about being a goof.

The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start.

I haven't played any other game besides TF2 for a hell of a long time. This game is so utterly creative, fun, and hilarious. Besides the consistent put-up of Random Crits, Autobalance, and (awful) HitReg, I rate this game 5/5. Must get if willing to spend money, because you'll be called a newbie (Free to Play, or F2P for short) if you don't.

Thanks, and have fun.

I have played this game for an entire year; time for my account on it.

I have logged 2,407 hours at the time of writing this review.

The fact that this game is pushing a decade old, and is still the 3rd or 4th most played game on Steam should hint to you something; This game is good, and at the price of absolutely free, why the ♥♥♥♥ have you not downloaded it yet?

This game has a special place in my heart; there's not one game that has let me know people from all sorts of walks of life, and get to play with, or against them, or end up being Sandvich-sharing, congaing friends in the end; a game that can hold your interest for 2,407 total hours, and people's overall interest for 9 years, is obviously a game you need to try.

Now, to the core value of the game; this is easily the most balanced shooter out there; this game is "Pay2Pimp", otherwise known as pay for a crapton of virtual hats that give you no actual advantage in-game except making you look more suavy. Everything in this game can be earned by just playing the game, and there's nothing in this game that exclusively a P2P user can get over a F2P user that actually gives them an advantage in-game, it's truly F2P, and doesn't require you to buy stuff to get ahead in the game, unless you want to really get involved in TF2's dynamic trading.

Team Fortress 2 has more gamemodes than any shooter I have ever seen before; and I CHALLENGE you to find a game with more gamemodes and variety than TF2. Along with the core implemented gamemodes in TF2, there are a ton of mods, or other gamemodes made by the community if you get tired of Capture Points, Payload, King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Attack/Defend, Mannpower, Territory Control, Medieval Mode, PASS Time, Robot Destruction, Mann vs Machine, Player Destruction, Payload Race, Arena Mode, Competitive Modes, Highlander Modes, and Special Delivery, along with 86 offical maps to go along with these core modes, along with more maps from the community workshop being added into the game over time; you'll never have something you haven't done in TF2.

Now, off the topic of TF2 and it's overall core gameplay; people keep saying they don't want to try TF2, saying it's for little kiddies, or the hackers make this game ruined; VAC now detects LAMEbox Premium; the hack that was said to be "un-VAC-able" this game can please any demographic, to people who want a fun game to pick up once, and never put down, to people who just love to trade and upgrade the value of their inventories with the game's dynamic economy, or even the competitive demographic, as Valve is testing Matchmaking Beta for TF2.

This game is free; there's no risk to trying it. You have nothing to lose, and so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much to gain, after playing it for a little; I wish everyone could see the magic behind this game.

So I spent most of my hours in idle servers and trading servers , being a Hoovy sitting in a corner for hours while watching the tryhards attempt to kill each other.

I should have allocated some time to learn how to rocket jump.

Even though some of the reviews I read is about the community being 'bad', thinking about it, I hardly ever see a 'decent' community for a game, everyone has their pros and cons, it can't be flawless. I agree that it's kind of turning into a CS:GO clone, you can now pick up weapons when they're dropped after someone dies, there's skins of stock weapons, I really miss Valve releasing new Festive skins and I do not like the idea of a Festivizer, and there are no new crates with new Strange weapons, just more cases with more skins and cosmetics and the nerf on some weapons are really unnecessary, it's TF2, not CS:GO, trying to completely balance the weapons in this game is impossible. Overall, it's my favorite game of all time and it will stay that way. Not interested in Overwatch at all.

This is probably the only game I will ever need. It's the game that got me into PC gaming and it's the game that has the best community out of the biggest games. Mainly because it's not a toxic community. Just like CS there is so much to do in them because of all the left in glitches and wierd game mechanics. It's also free wich makes it easy to play with friends wich is one of the best things.
Thanks for bringing me this game!

Probably one of the best games I have ever played. It has a great community (aside from the occasional squeaker), incredible gameplay, beautiful graphics, and a weapon system that is diverse, but rather than one weapon being particularly "better" than another, they are more adaptibe to different play styles, something that is not very popular in games these days. Although there are players who have been playing exponentially longer than me, I usually feel like I can get a decent number of points without having to intensely practice. Overall, Team Fortress 2 is just an incredible game, and I couldn't reccomend it more.

As I sit here, having just hung up my shotgun for the final time, to anyone who would bother reading this, here's my tf2 story, and why it will always be THE game, and I'll never forget my time spent here.

If for some odd reason you are reading this and you haven't played tf2 and you are unsure if you want to get into it, don't. The game is dying. It's not from being a bad game, it's just that everything must end, and it's absurd to expect a game to continue to grow 8 years after release.

My good friend Jacob introduced me to this game in 2012. Instantly, I fell in love with it. For the first year or so I was possibly the worst f2p on the planet, but I didn't mind. It was tf2, so it was fun. At some point, my computer broke, and, naturally, being the lazy 7th grader I was, I didn't really bother to fix it. So, for about a year, I didn't play tf2 at all, simply because I couldn't. In that time, you'd think I'd have given up on the game, and become a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ minecraft kid or something, but that wasn't the case. During that period of a year I watched STAR_'s videos religiously. I listened to everything he had to say, took in every scrap of information about an obscure fps I couldn't even play. I learned to play tf2 well without ever firing a bullet in the game myself. I loved the game to death, and didn't care that I couldn't play. It was tf2.

When I finally got around to fixing the damn computer, I decided to become a revolutionary competitive player, and change the way people played medic. Initially, of course, I was ♥♥♥♥, but I didn't care. I was playing tf2. Eventually, after many hours on all crits servers, and about a hundred lobbies, I joined my first competitive team. Nothing had changed about the way I approached the game. I still watched tf2 content on YouTube religiously, still played like a chicken, and still thought I was revolutionary. At that point, however, I'd started playing soldier, which is really the only class in the entire game that's always fun to play, regardless of the situation. The first team I was ever on was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Iron team that never played a single match on account of being really disorganized. I didn't care. I still loved every scrim we got rolled in, because it was tf2. I still credit Totodile as being the first internet "friend" I ever truly made, even if he was a terrible leader and player.

The next team I ever joined was the only good one I ever played for, and the group of guys on that team are probably so tired of my ♥♥♥♥ they only keep me on their friends list out of pity. Northernlions/PH&C were the coolest guys I'd ever met. They had a plan, they did things together, and they made me feel like I was more than just part of a competitive team. I was heartbroken when Trips broke up the team, and hated him for months after. I hated him because when he took that team away, he took people I thought were my friends away (even though, looking back on it, they were not). That's how much I loved tf2 that I thought a bunch of guys who put up with me only because I was pretty good at Engie, and Engie mains are almost impossible to find, were my friends, and even, in a way, my family.

I spent the rest of the season bouncing between average steel teams who I was pretentious towards becuase they were not as coordinated as PH&C. After I got kicked off of the last one (Neighborhood Watch), I decided to make my own team. Worst decison of my life. I should have quit tf2 before making this team, since the game stopped being fun for its own sake at that point. In reality, that team was just me trying to recapture the feeling of inclusion I had on PH&C. When Jerma and Star quit, so should have I.

I don't really want to go through all of the details as to why that team broke up, and why it could have been good, but basically, that team made me lose my faith in the future of this game, and they're why I'm quitting. They were decent people, except for a few, but they weren't enough to make a real team around.

I've spent enough time in this game to be able to give a little advice to anyone reading this, about the pub game, competitve, and the future of tf2 in general.

For pubbers: Find your map, find your server, and never leave. Pubbing in tf2 is usually only truly consistently fun in one environment, with one set of players. If you like badwater, stick to badwater servers. If you like Saxton Hale, stick to Saxton Hale servers.

For Competitive players who aren't team leaders: Be friendly, but don't expect to have friends. People on the internet can and will leave you at a moment's notice. Play for the love of the game, not for your friends. The only friends you have are the ones you know in person. Don't become a team leader.

For Team Leaders: There is only one secret to keeping a team together and to being successful. Win. If your team is winning, they will want to play more, they will be friendlier, and they will be more committed to you and your team. Sandbagging is indeed necessary. If you think you're a mid-silver level team, try to win Steel.
