About This Game

Mytheon is a light MMO-RPG which can be played solo or as a group which combines elements of action RPGs and collectible card games. You create an avatar from one of three classes and collect stones of power which act as your spells, abilities and pets. Using the stones, you can explore 14 different adventure areas to collect loot and new stones. Your ultimate goal is to defeat Zeus and the Greek pantheon of gods on Mount Olympus. Welcome to the world of Mytheon, Stonecaster!

Originally released in 2010 as a free-to-play Action-RPG MMO, the game has been slightly redesigned to support a simple one-time purchase for all core content.

Key Features

  • Explore on your own or meet up with friends to defeat the gods.
  • No microtransactions!
  • Three classes with unique stone sets.
  • Unique combat system using randomized “stones of power” to summon powerful minions and spells to the battlefield.
  • Over 130 stones of power to collect; create battle sets (“decks”) from your collection to take to adventure zones. Customize your battle set to face your foes.
  • Hang out with your friends in Argos, the Greek hub zone. Argos holds all of the shops, quest-givers and lore for the world of Mytheon.
  • 14 instanced adventure zones to explore, including two end-game max level zones. Each zone has a final boss that will require great skill or a group to defeat.
  • Play solo or group with three additional friends to face tough foes.
  • Three dueling arenas to practice your skills against friends.
  • Three PvP scenario maps – face off against another group of players to see who can defeat the boss and collect the chest.
  • Mail and Broker systems allow you to trade or sell your hard won loot to other players.
  • Form a guild with like-minded Stonecasters.
  • Thousands of loot items to find and equip on your avatar.
  • Hundreds of quests (Labors) available. All quests are repeatable up to their level cap.
  • In-game achievements (Feats) available for every adventure zone.
  • Use the Stoneforge to craft new stones or gear from recipes found in the world, or sacrifice your unneeded stones to try for a new one.

It is a rather shallow game and very typical of online hack'n'slashers... and they call it a rpg... I think they don't know what role-playing is and they are confusing Role-Playing Game with Real Power Gaming.

Anyways, the randomness of the spells makes it impossible to make a strategy and it sucks royally.

I'm refunding this.

This game is really awesome. I played when it was released and playing again with the new expansion...

You get stones that create towers! or cyclops or pegasus! or are spells!, and you build your 15 stones set (3 max each).
You can figure out combos pure Magic the gathering style... or you can go the easy way and just add the ones you like. Visually the game is quite satisfying...

In combat 6 random stones from your deck are available at a time. You enter a stage kick some mobs's asses and go for the bosses that give the cool loot.

There is also:
-Pvp duels
-Items, recipes, crafting...
-Market
-You can play stages in a party or solo

I really recommend it. By the way, i saw some comments on lag. I have none.

Imbalanced Classes, no customization upon level up. Shallow loot system. Unfair Difficulty. Shoddy design. The one redeeming quality about this game is the novel "deck building" mechanic, which is neat. However, there needs to be much improvement in this to make this a game worth playing. 3/10 would be forced to be a summoner or die again.

Bought the game and could not even connect the server once to play. I saw in the reviews that this is a common problem. Bummer. Was hoping for something like Titan Quest :(. How hard can it be to keep a simple game like this and it's ONE server stable?

Good idea......BUT

the lag is REAL.
server side response time is horrible... there are a total of 4 people in the world playing it at any 1 time..if it was on sale for 99% off..sure thing.
But as is, without a client base as an INTERNET ONLY game...its horrible

So, I bought this game when it "re launched" last year. The game is not bad, but it isn't very good either. Like the RPG/turn based idea. It gets annoying when you don't get the stones/cards you need and you are e.g. lvl 12 and get killed by sth lvl 10. Also, the regeneration bonus is ridiculous. 4hp in 1500 hp (lvl 15) every few seconds? Start another game, go out , watch a movie or read a book while you heal, because if you go b to base, all the creatures respawn.
Apart from some serious lag issues, which got me killed several times, there are almost no people playing it. So how come you have an "online only" game with no people online? I already knew that few people were playing, but I never imagined such a little number. All the players of my lvl or of similar lvl I asked for a party declined it. Moreover, there are very few weapons and equipment available, not even one per lvl.
Apart from this, they elevated the price from 3.99 or 4.99 to 9.99, so that they could release some DLC at 4.99 ONE month later... I cannot support any company that does that kind of shady things. Besides, the basic game just gets you to lvl 30, while the DLC pushes it to 40, so you'll have to buy at least 5 more DLC packs. For me it's either launch the whole game or just don't... Selling content that could have been added when the game was launched is just wrong for me.
So, rounding up, I would only recomend this game if you buy it when it's on sale, and if you have some friends to play it with.
Hope I helped.

Things I like:
- Abilities work a bit like in card games: At any time you will have a number of random abilities(stones) available for use, taken from your "deck"(stone collection).
- Lots of quests to do
- Barrels to smash
- Boss monsters
- Character controls are easy/comfortable
- Moderate amount of loot, of various types and gear slots
- Recycling of "stones" you don't use.
- Auction house.

Things I don't like:
- Nothing seems to happen when you level up. Disappointing.
- No zooming in on the character when customizing the looks.
- Wish I could zoom out more
- Wish I could zoom in more on the map
- Item filters in inventory and auction house are somewhat cumbersome
- "Health shrines" seem to do nothing at all.
- Forcing companions to attack the players target doesn't seem to work.
- Can't filter auction house by item rarity.
- Can't change "stone battle set" outside hubs.

I played this back in beta through its release, its great to see it released again. Its diablo'esq with a card deck system. Its an older game (2010) but its got some fun stuff to do and the cards offer some great customization. Its cheap fun and worth a play through. The pvp is actually really fun once you get a decent set of cards ("stones").

I played this game when it available for a limited time several years ago.

The game is a bargin at $4.99. The core mechanics are really interesting. Odd combination of deck-building, RPG and some RTS elements. I am not aware of anything quite like this.

Mytheon is a very traditional "MMORPG" experience. However, there is no community in the server. My whole 20-30 minutes searching for some signs of life were to no avail. The game feels very dated and plays like an MMORPG game from the early 2000s. This to me was great as I missed that feeling and grabbed a lot of nostalgia playing the game. The games controls were real simple and you could do everything you needed to with just the mouse.

Positives:
+ Can use only a mouse to control and fight
+ No Microtransactions
+ Cheap price

Negatives:
- 'Dead Servers'
- Game is very dated
- Not an action-RPG, feels more turned based

If you’re looking for an MMORPG, for me I would most definitely not recommend. The servers are completely empty apart from the NPCs. What I fear for is later on in the game there being tough bosses which you need a group for. Of course, this is going to be difficult with erm... no one around. The game also feels very dated, which for me is a good thing however for more newer people to the genre or who have played more recent MMO’s you may be heavily put off by it.

However, I would recommend this to people who are seeking for a classic RPG experience. The game is solid for what it does and I enjoyed the feeling of nostalgia from it.

The co-op part is good, after an instance (zone) is complete you can go to the hub where you can buy items, forge better stones and sell/buy stuff in a mini auction house. +1

When I saw that Mytheon was re-designed for steam, I was in awe. The hype is real folks. Gem of a game for a low price!

Very unique take on the action RPG! Tell your friends about it and buy it!

Take Titan's Quest, Torchlight, and M:TG and make it an MMO and you would have something very close to Mytheon. The combat system is like no other MMO however. Basically you collect stones (think of them as cards in a deck) and build your rotation with the stones you've collected. There are many possibilities and a good amount of random chance which keeps combat interesting. It's a nice change of pace to have to think on your toes in an MMO.

Awesome to see Mytheon back alive :) !
Played the open beta got hooked, then it got taken down.

Anyway give this a go! After the first 2-3 levels I get the
the Diablo II loot hunting addiction.

If you like summoning warriors and other junk, you might want to try this. I played this some 4-5 years ago until it got shut down unexpectly. I don't know if my time frame and feelings are the same for this game now, but reading that they did some easy leveling curves and other stuff, I'll keep playing just because I like summoning things. I do think some people won't like this game, so just think of this as a standalone Diablo game, with lots of murdering summonings intent on killing on your command*^*
