What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“In order to make sure you have an awesome experience looting your way to the top, we have decided to take advantage of the possibilities of Early Access. On the one hand, the game is nearly feature-complete at the moment and we want to test these features properly so we need your help to ensure it is as balanced, fun, and satisfying as possible.

On the other hand, we plan on doubling the content, that is levels, weapons, enemies and armors/hats. This gives us the chance to involve the community, not only by suggestions, but by really contributing artwork, too. Stay tuned for further information during our Early-Access phase. We feel that the game has to be polished until it gets so shiny, that even our goblins want to loot it themselves when the full version comes out.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're about to release the full game 5-6 months from the start of Early Access. It depends on the amount of your feedback, the glitches and bugs you hopefully won't encounter and the super-weird-nice ideas you or our developers could be coming up with suddenly.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“It was very important for us to have a already perfectly playable game with the release of Early Access. This is no prototype, no half-ready game idea: We are developing looterkings for over one and a half years now, we are nearly feature-complete, but not yet content complete. During the last year, we worked on the hard part, creating a modular system for our weapons and enemies, so that implementation of new content is easy for us.

So what does this mean? We're planning on adding more levels (ultimately 10 - every run, however, the level itself changes), more weapons (50+), more enemies (20), more helmets (20) and armors (20). Also, we plan on adding more rooms for the existing levels to further increase replayablity and diversity.

There are some features that are currently worked on and are not live yet. These are an ingame chat-macro system, collectable cards, secrets and a unique twitch-mode (more information soon).”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the moment we proudly present you 5 levels full of only the shiniest loot hounded by up to four creepy little goblins, you and your friends can take control of. Thank to a managed procedural level-generation, each time you start a level it will look different, so you can play it over and over again with the delight of looting even more, buy heavier weapons and equip your goblin with better armor and helmets.

We've got 16 different weapons for you to tackle the enemies guarding the precious loot, each with a unique special attack.

Each round you looted enough, you can shop weaponry and gear up at the in-game merchant to make your little goblin look individually fancy and level your way up to goblinity.

  • 5 different bioms/level-styles consisting of procedural dungeons
  • 12 magical abilities
  • 16 weapons
  • 10 helmets/ 10 armors
  • 10+ different enemies ?
  • in-game merchant to upgrade your equipment
  • unique coop gameplay
  • RPG-style leveling
  • Third-person action
  • Steam achievements

We will constantly add new content and features to the game during Early Access, so the numbers mentioned above will raise gradually.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The final price for the full version will be 25.99$.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We count on and need your feedback to make the game as great as possible because only you as a player can tell us how flawless or flawed the game currently is. For that reason, we will ensure that it's both easy and effective for you to communicate with us through the Steam forum and our social media channels. Please, feel free to join us with suggestions, bugs, features, wishes on out steam-forums, we will be concentrating our communication there! We're looking forward to your feedback!”

About This Game

Looterkings is a procedural dungeon crawler, in which you won't fight alone and you won't be the good guy. Play together with up to 3 friends and take control of the most wretched goblin horde ever to have crawled out of the caves deep beneath the earth. These caves don't hold enough loot any more, so you're going to fight your way up. The higher you get, the more loot you will find, eventually ravaging the hallowed halls of the Elven Queen.

Bonding a successful goblin horde works best by gathering your friends to share this adventure. We made Looterkings an up to four-player online coop game, because we think procedural dungeon crawling is most fun with fellow looters supporting you and fighting with you side by side.

But most importantly, we are absolutely passionate about real coop gameplay that is not „just“ individual hacking and slashing, which led to the ability of stacking: each goblin has a special god-ability, which he can share with a fellow goblin by carrying his fellow on his shoulders. Hereby the players will be able to share their buffs of the god-abilities they possess and combine strengths for a short period of time.

When all goblins of a horde die, they will have to start over again from the first level. However, to maintain replayability, the level arrangement, the enemies and the rooms themselves will vary each time playing a level. Each level will provide the players with a possibility to upgrade their weapons and armor at a goblin merchant. The items available at the merchant however will be depending on the overall player level, which goes up by collecting XP dropped by defeated monsters.

We give special attention to distinct graphics and animations. No art in this game is an overused asset-store item or a generic mecanim-animation. Just catch a glimpse at the videos and screenshots – we really want to realize a unique experience and atmosphere for Looterkings based on stunning visuals, sound effects and music. Developed with Unity 5 Engine.
