About This Game

Welcome to UNDERTALE. In this RPG, you control a human who falls underground into the world of monsters. Now you must find your way out... or stay trapped forever.

((Healthy Dog's Warning: Game contains imagery that may be harmful to players with photosensitive epilepsy or similar condition.))

  • Killing is unnecessary: negotiate out of danger using the unique battle system.
  • Time your attacks for extra damage, then dodge enemy attacks in a style reminiscent of top-down shooters.
  • Original art and soundtrack brimming with personality.
  • Soulful, character-rich story with an emphasis on humor.
  • Created mostly by one person.
  • Become friends with all of the bosses!
  • At least 5 dogs.
  • You can date a skeleton.
  • Hmmm... now there are 6 dogs...?
  • Maybe you won't want to date the skeleton.
  • I thought I found a 7th dog, but it was actually just the 3rd dog.
  • If you play this game, can you count the dogs for me...? I'm not good at it.

It is a good game. I don't think emotionally sensitive people should play this game. Reason being: The lack of happiness. The final cuts of the game reveal some sad content. Besides that, the game is tremendously great, and I thank Toby Fox for making such a non-forgettable unique RPG like game. Keep up the good work Toby! And I would also like to say, the game has very inappropriate content on the internet, for an example: Bad Romances, Insane Language, and any other of the sort. Its not that I hate some of the great animations like: Echo,... But I just don't like the bad stuff. You know what I mean. Anyway, I do recommend this game, you can already tell. I did not get this product for free, and I hope this review helped you understand that you should buy this game, It is definitley worth it. Anyway, Toodles!!!

The game is ok in my opinon, the ost is pretty good but the fan base is just awful. If you want to play this game please don't look at the fan base it's terrible. It's still a good game so by all means check it out.

bloody boring game, boring and uninteresting. I am usually fine with games in which you have to grind and farm or redo the same gameplay over and over again, but when that gameplay is just dodging some dots (haven't played in a bit, already forgot everything about the game, not engaging at all in terms of gameplay or story), it gets tedious, and i never even had to do any levels more than a couple times to get past them but it got boring anyway.

arbitrary score 3/10, it was a nice idea points for trying

I really love this game. The descisions you make affect the game in such a way, that by playing it one way, it is almost an entirely different than by playing the other.

An amazing and unique game, that offers the unforgettable experience while playing it. Sadly enough, I can't say the same good thing about its fandom which is regarded as toxic. Nontheless, I highly recommend getting this awesome game, as long as you won't bother with its disappointing fandom.

" Choices matter "

This tag is so missused in most games. Life is strange and The Walking Dead series are prime examples of this. They present an illusion of choice, but whatever you do (exept the last choices) will give you basically the same results.

Undertale however, is the only game where I have felt that my actions truely tailor my story. The game remembers what you have done hours ago, or even in previous playthroughs

Do not be discouraged by the simple graphics or the slow start. This game is so deep not even Adele could roll in it.

Thankfully, the game isn't as cancerous as the fandom it sadly spawned.

At first glance, I thought fairly negatively of the game due to the fanbase I saw on social media. Everything from hardcore gay fanfictions that read like a 6 year-old created it, to roleplayers that likely lived in their parents' basements were laid before me. I was mortified, honestly.

Fast foward to Steam's summer sale, and I saw this game was at a discount, leading me to decide to purchase it. What I got was pretty surprising. I expected the game to be as bad as the fanbase - however, it had a fairly deep story and a great soundtrack. The "You don't have to kill anyone to win" concept has been done before (Postal 2 comes to mind), though the game executed it pretty well. The characters were...interesting to say the least. I got a couple good laughs out of them, and other jokes in the game (Quite a few anime jokes in the game as well, most of them were pretty funny. I found there to be a decent amount of cringe in here as well, so be wary.)

Overall, the game is a "hey, that's pretty good"/10, though the fandom is so bad, I can't even rank them on a broken /10 ranking system.

First I finished the "No Killing Route" since the summary of the game says "The RPG game where you don't have to destroy anyone."

this is the weird RPG I ever played, because most RPG I played is that Killing to gain Expi, and gold to get stronger, but this kind of game you can act/mercy without destroying/killing a monster. The story of the game is kinda touching/emotional/feelings, also has jokes and good soundtrack.

The Genocide route was very hard for me. So I ended up watching on Youtube xD

some of my friends gave me some inspiring, funny and spoilled undertale videos
Whenever I died the game gives me more determination. Worth playing it! :)

If I had to describe Undertale in short, it would be this:
The game where you can be the most epic of heroes without ever lifting a weapon. Without ever landing a single kill. At the same time, however, the option to use usual combat mechanics is still there. And how the player chooses to play the game affects the entire game.

It's not just the ending that changes, or a few moments here and there, based on how the player decides to play the game. Everything changes. And your save is unique - even if you decide to delete and start over, the game keeps "memories" of your past experiences and they'll affect your new playthrough.

Usually I start reviews by mentioning the cons, then the pros. This time, however, I have to go straight to the pros... Because there are no cons to mention. Everything in this game is well done. Everything falls in place. And it's not that I don't want to say anything bad about the game - when I write a review, no matter how much I enjoy the game, I'll mention its flaws. It's just that in Undertale's case, there are literally no flaws to mention.

With that in mind, it'd be also pointless to talk about all the pros since, as mentioned, everything in the game is well done. So I'll just stick to where the game shines above everything else:

  • Soundtrack. By the gods, that soundtrack. If I was to compile a Top 10 Best Gaming OSTs list, Undertale would have a guaranteed spot there, right besides games with amazing OSTs like Castlevania, Mega Man, Metal Slug and Chrono Trigger.
  • Story. It seems simple at first, but it quickly evolves into something a lot more complex and intriguing. And in some parts of the game, it feels like it's interacting directly with the player playing the game. It can be the most cutesy and funny game or the most disturbing piece, it all depends on the player.
  • Gameplay. This is where someone would say "Huh? The only thing to mention about gameplay is a heart dodging things, it's nothing new". That would be true, but it's how the game works with that mechanic in surprising and creative ways that often catches the player offguard in a positive way.

Before I started playing Undertale, I already expected a good game from how much praise it got everywhere and some of my friends recommending it as well. But even then, the game still surpassed my expectations by a mile.

I've heard a lot of good things about this game since the release so I decided to finally buy this when it went on sale. The game turned out to be even better than I thought. The plot twists, the humor, the depth of story, the emotional rollercoaster. This game touched me like no game had ever touched before. I'd like to share my experience with you.
There might be some potential, light, spoilers i guess:

At my first playthrough I decided that I'm going to be "the good guy", as I usually do in games. I've heard some things about this game but I didn't know the basic mechanics or story, so more or less I was clueless as to what should I expect. I've tried my best to not kill anyone to get the good ending. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out how to spare some of the creatures/bosses. I wondered how this will all end and kinda expected "meh" result. I was so sucked up in the game I finished it in one go. After defeating the king I've met my best buddy from the beginning of the game. First time my game "crashed" I was like '-what? I was just about to finish the game, come on !'. Then I launched the game again and I was like 'Oh ok. Nice one'. After finishing the game he tells me that if I want to see the real good ending I have to kill no one.

Ok, I can do that.

I was filled with determination

Next run, I can do this, I can spare everyone. After a little consulting with uncle google I know how to spare all the bosses(I'm horrible, I know).
And I did it. I was so thrilled that I'll see the good ending. I get to the king, defeat him and...
This guy again. Motherf...
Turns out not only I have to spare everyone, I have to be friends with all of them. What?

I was filled with frustration

I was mad at this game. I decided to kill everyone this time. I knew there was a different ending if you do that.
So I killed everyone I've encountered. Usually I wouldn't care either way since it's quite common to do so in most of the games but here... it was somehow hard. And those dialogs... I felt like the scum of the Earth with every kill. I was sad when I was about to finish the game. And after defeating the king once again...
He shows up and the game ends with a neutral ending again. Turns out I didn't kill enough.
I didn't think I'll have it in me to try again and kill more after crying like 5 times during this run. But I really wanted to see other endings, so I decided to try doing the Pacifist route again.

I was filled with determination

This time I had it. I knew what I needed to do to get the right ending. I wanted to rush through the game since I saw everything 3 times already. Or so I thought. This path shows you a little more about the lore. And with every second it was getting darker. I was spooked a little at first but I continued. The I was spooked a little more but I was still going forward. The fact that I was playing at night wasn't helping. Finally I've reached the final boss and after defeating him I was satisfied. I've finally reached the good ending!
But I couldn't help but wonder: what does the evil ending look like?(and I wanted to battle Sans which you can do only on the genocide route)
Even though I didn't want to, I had to make the hard decision and once again started the game.

I was filled with determination

I've never felt so bad while playing the game or in my entire life. First the spooky music, then the dialogs left me heartbroken. Suffice to say I almost dehydrated through my eyes.
But I did it. I wanted to kill myself but I did it. And the ending was also interesting, beside being creepy af.
And after seeing all endings, I could finally rest as I no longer felt the need to see more since I've seen it all already

I was filled with satisfaction

Or have I?...

Overall, this game is amazingly well designed. I had a lot of fun while playing it. A perfect example that you don't need good graphics to make a great game. Also, don't play it at night or if you are emotionally sensitive

Bonus: After finishing the game with all endings I decided to go to the wiki page to find out more about a certain Character. While there I found some things I didn't recognize and checked them out.
What the hell.
Just how deep and complex is this game?

>Aims for Pacifist :3
>Accidently presses "Z" and "X" keys too fast and attacks Special Enemy Temmie (dies from one hit)instead of Acting >.<
>Continues on anyway and gets the normal ending after dying to Mettaton Ex and Asgore SO MANY TIMES
>Resets game, does it all again ^.^
>Gets the "Happy Ending"
>Probably one of the best games I've ever played <3

What makes this game stand out is how unique it is from other games; nothing can be compared to it. The gameplay is great, storyline freaking amazing, soundtrack ear candy and the message that it delivers. I couldn't recommend this game more, it gets an easy 10/10 although I could never go back to complete "Genocide" because I couldn't kill any of the characters (on purpose) :3
