It's not a bad game , and you can get everything you need through hardwork. However , the paywalls mentioned are a little steep at times ( earrings can be a big influence when it comes to in game stats , and Planewalker:Water does block some gear from being obtained). Earrings I earned by farming 100k Void Stones in game before pay wall and I bought Planewalker:Water for 200 platinum off the AH in game also before it got pay walled. Other than the pay wall issues the game can be fully enjoyed at lvl 65 with endgame and everything.

This game has been slowly going down the crapper ever since the free 2 play update. Do not play this game unless you enjoy having to pay for the privilege to unlock earring slots or being able to join a warfront (PvP battleground) of your choosing instead of randomly joining one.

If you're looking for a lower budget of World of Warcraft then look no further you've found it.

While a lot of people say this game is P2W they'd be wrong.

You don't have to pay to level up, spend real money on mounts or even have to unlock any content such as adventures, dungeons or raids. If you choose to you can pay for convenience to get things faster then other players, but those same things can be gotten in-game via REX.

It just takes time and effort that most people are to lazy to do so they would rather label the game as P2W.

It's Free to download. Free to Play. No Hidden Contracts, Trials or Fees. All you loose is Time.

Never a dull moment
No flight points
Nice fighting system
Nice skill tree
Amazing Character Design

Cons:

A very complete and wide game, many skill and build options you can choose, pvp in almost any part of the map and a pvp arena too. Dimensions (like terrain/house) with many things to place in there, mounts, many different kind of armors/costumes ... etc.
You'll understand how much this game has after seeing how much it weights.

Negative part:
The fighting system. It's realistic and good but if someone goes on your back you can't attack them, and the fact that players can attack while moving..well.. this makes some """pro""" players run in circles around you so you can't attack them. And THAT looks amazingly ridiculous.

----------------------
I was so excited to play this game again but then I saw all the bad reviews and remembered that.. they are true, at level 65 you will encounter many players that are just overpowered even if you have a good equipment, must be the pay to win features.

All good online games end up dying at some point.
Maplestory, Tibia, Dragon Nest, Rift, Awesomenauts... what else?

Rift was my third true MMO love. I played WoW from launch till BC, I played LOTRO from pre-order to Lorochel and then I played Rift. I loved Rift. Rift isn't what I loved. It's now a microtransaction riddled face-roll spamfest. If RIft ever want back in time Id give it a solid 8/10 but today I'd have to give it a 2/10 because there's no challenege, no fun.

For instance, I logged in after not playing since right atfer the first expansion, so that's 2 years? I decided to see how the game was with my wife who always played with me. We logged-in to our lvl 50 characters ahd queed up for a new 'hard mode' dungeon so we could gauge the gameplay. We found a group rather quickly with me queing as a Tank and Her a Healer. I was unable to locate my shield for whatever reason it was just nowhere to be found. I'm thinking we're going to be screwed, hopefully the group doesn't realize I'm tanking without a shield and kick me. Maybe a shield will drop before anyone notices. :P We're killing everything so ridiculously easily that we're pulling entire rooms and she's barely even playing. SHe goes AFK halfway through the dungeon and we easily complete it without her... Pathetic.

10/10 - The Poor Man’s World Of Warcraft! FREE and Still Good in 2016!

This is one of those reviews that you just can't win. Too many have played; too many have developed concrete opinions. This is just my personal take on the game and how it ranks in the genre as of 2016.
The graphics and production values are pretty amazing! If you have played WOW this is certainly one of the closest clones. It's not a copy though; this game definitely has its own identity!
There are massive worlds, PVP, bosses and absolutely everything you would want in an MMORPG. The member base on games like this is always in flux; currently there is an average of 650 players playing at any one time. Not a ton; but still more than at times in the past! If you look at the graphs from the last 5 years you can really see the trends and the conclusion... This game is far from dead. A single DLC or major update can bring any game back to life!

This is my favorite game in the mmorpg genre; granted my computer isn't amazing so I can't effectively play some of the newest games, but this one still has it going on in 2016! I just got off playing WOW for nostalgia’s sake and honestly I prefer this game much more so.

Rift is completely free to play; being a premium member definitely has some serious bonuses like all MMORPGS. The biggest thing patrons receive is more xp, cash and access to the marketplace. The marketplace was a major factor for me in the past; but due to the current member slump it can be difficult to sell on a saturated market anyway. So FREE is still great.

So, if you want to play something extremely enjoyable and very similar to WOW without the subscription... I'll see you in Rift!

I've played this game on and off over the years and every time I come back I appreciate this game more and more. Please be aware that the member base is smaller than some games, and you will have to work a little harder as a free member. I've never spent a dime on this game and it's given me so much content and hours of enjoyment.

Worth $20; my favorite mmorpg by far! It's really free. Fewer players, but still amazing!

I am not sure if I should recommend this game or not...
It used to be really fun, not that it's less so, but the paywalls have become so high its really hard to get around them, I support them completely, I even paid for content in the game, but paywalling so much content is a problem.

I rate this game 7/10 for gameplay, 9/10 for story as there are so many to play, 7/10 for graphics and 3/10 for being P2W.

The game is still fun to play, as I said, but due to all the paywalling you can only really experience true gameplay at lvl 65.

Very good and fun game, all in all. They have really limited the F2P options recently and I've stopped playing due to some of their decisions that feel like a last ditch cash grab to the player base. They had a great product, it has the potential to be great again but I think it's very unlikely they can recover from the recent downward spiral.

To those who are wondering if to play or not to play: From the F2P perspective.

This game was great before but all things must come to an end at some point, I still play it though (because I bought with in game currency everything I needed before it went credits only (especially earring slots, planewalker water)) but new players will be hit with microtransactions left and right. The game has great graphics, good pve casual gameplay and a good comunity. Once you get into PVP or raiding things change, as stated above, to raid you need your earing slots and planewalker water so you can equip 2 earrings and certain armor that can only be used with the planewalker water attunement which will allow you to do more damage, tank, heal or support assuming you know your role. They also rush new content way too fast without thoroughly analizing its flaws and players end up exploiting raids until the devs fix them so now "the point of the game is not beating the boss but beating the dev who's actually really really bad at his job" Oria Xu. PVP on the other hand, well.....Since NT launched, trino (trion) decided to hand it over to pve'ers. "PVP" gear is a tier and a half below PVE raid gear and in warfronts and there is no more pvp gear proggression like in the past during Storm Legion. it is now either burst or be bursted, I'm a decent player and I sometimes enjoy it but most of the time it's for the marks to get gear from the store. And if you're a F2P player, there is no choosing specific warfronts or dungeons anymore which means completing the PVP quest guns for hire (win 4 codex, win 3 black gardens for example and each week they vary) will be very hard, first you have to random queue and hope you get one of those warfronts and then you have to hope your team doesn't get slaughtered by enemy team.

There is a new expansion coming up later on (RIFT 4.0) which is supposed to be better but we'll see, I'm going to keep playing the game since I'm hoping those hundreds and hundreds of comments on forums reach trino and turn this game around. If you're still interested, go ahead and try it but play it casually because the game is out of balance at the moment. Primalist calling is broken and way overpowered, Warriors have only 2 usable souls for DPS without the option of hybrid builds, Rogues are fun with many options to builds but there's so many on the game, Mages at end content are very hard as a first option, and clerics are great but also a little hard at end content.

Overall, RIFT is a great game but the childish devs made a very bad move this expansion. Oria xu has a detailed video as well on his youtube channel which I highly reccomend watching and by the way mentioning oria's video in game could get you banned. (if you watch the video you will know why)

I played this game since beta until recently. The optimization is bad, and the cash shop rules all. When the game first went free to play it was great, but they keep moving more and more towards a pay to win model. RIFT started out as a phenomenal game, the first expansion was pretty cool, and the second was good until they started focusing far more on their cash shop than on fixing any bugs (there's a LOT) or on improving optimization (I can run anything else on max with a decent framerate... RIFT needs to be on low or medium to get 30fps in town).
Great game that Trion's exceptionally poor management has ruined. (Kinda like they did to Archeage)

When you play this game it seems awesome from the begining, but after that the quests(Main Quests) dont seem to have logic with the story anymore someone may have noticed+you need to pay for much things. So i don't know, i tought the combat would be more like Neverwinter but i simply got bored from everything in the game, that's just my opinion but if someone wants to try the game he should try it but he will get bored in one day.

If someone doesn't like this comment don't hate :):):)

It's that one game I keep forgetting why I had uninstalled, but then quickly remember why.
-Pvp is completely dead, and there's only one server for open world pvp, which is also dead.
-The jew store prices keep going up and you must buy things if you want to actually level up to 65 without dying in the process.
-community just ♥♥♥♥ posts in map chat and doesn't do jack ♥♥♥♥, so doing dungeons is unheard of.
-Completely pay to win
-no one does the fun group ♥♥♥♥
just don't bother with this ♥♥♥♥ing game unless you are rich, because you'll be homeless if you aren't
