DISCLAIMER: This is a full review, and NOT a first impressions review like all my other reviews, if you want a better full review, then please read better reviews then mine

Psychonauts is a puzzle action game developed and published by none other than Double Fine Productions, the same people behind the fantastic Grim Fandango Remastered and Brutal Legend amongst other games. Psychonauts follows a summer camp for 'children' who are training to become Psychonauts, a special team who enter into the minds of people and fix the issues that one brain may possess

The game's graphics are like that of early Pixar and Laika (Coraline and Paranorman) stop-motion films with it's weird art style. The game's story is enjoyable although some of the missions are sometimes repeated and can get boring after a while

Although the game is pretty old, Psychonauts ran really well on modern day systems (Windows 10) with hardly any crashes or bugs. The game's voice acting is superb and the actors really made their game counterparts really come alive in the game

Psychonauts' length is good, clocking in at around 10-11 hours, the game was satisfying and the ending was nice. Psychonauts is a good puzzle action and for any fans of Double Fine's games or people who like puzzle action games then Psychonauts is the game for you!

RECOMMENDED :)

This game was a blast (sometimes literally). Stumbled onto this one by accident, really. Saw a youtuber talking about it, and got curious. I'm glad I did.
I have a bad habit of starting games and not finishing them at times (you can ask any of my gamer friends). This one, however, gets a a good place in my finished game list (kind of a short list).
Would I reccommend this game? absolutely.
10/10 would go inside someone's brain again.
now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go blast some censors. They've been creeping on the blacksmith's roof again.

Awesome PS2 era platform game! Great gameplay and story, I really enjoyed it. Also, in my experience the port was good in terms of performance and controls although some slight changes to my GPU settings were needed to prevent visual bugs.

Oh wow. I really wanted to like this game. It has an amazing story, diverse characters, unique setting, etc. One thing, however, ruined the entire game: the controls. They are, to put it simply, awful. The camera angles are all wacky, such that you can't move the view past a tiny window of space, and you can't look up. The actual character movement is fine, until the part when you unlock levitation and the camera angles restrain your movement so you fall off almost everything. Worst of the worst, however, was the aiming system. In an isometric third person game you need a solid aiming system. However, the target lock on system is exhausting to use. This, for me, made the game unplayable.

Such a shame, as the rest of the game is quite good.

TL;DR
BUY THIS GAME! If you have a controller, I'd recommend it over the keyboard and mouse as I've found it to be much easier to control Raz with a controller instead of the keyboard.

Over a decade and the game still holds up.
Psychonauts is truly a testament to great game design — released over a decade ago and still holds up well. The game features one of the most original stories this side of Spec Ops: The Line, and the humor is on-point though subtle. The characters are unique, and most importantly, human. Each one has their own problems, motivations and quirks. As the story progresses, you'll get to see characters' lives unfold, each one a different arc. I think the true achievement of Psychonaut's storytelling is that you, the protaganist, is never the main character of the story, but simply a conduit. Your actions move the story forward, but it's the lives of others that draw your attention and empathy.

And my god, the level design. Instead of filling the game with gimmicky tricks that are used once (and never again, I'm looking at you Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Dishonored, etc.), the levels in Psychonauts is designed in such a way that each ability will undoubtedly be used over and over again (except for Clairvoyence). The levels also do not feel repetitive. Even though the core mechanics never change from the first mission to the last, every mission has it's own little gimmick that makes that one particular level feel different than every other level.

The soundtrack is on point, and even though the graphics undoubtedly feel a bit dated, when a game is this good, it doesn't really matter.

This game brought something back that i thought i lost in myself . It brought back my love for videogames. The story was great and very good to see unfold. The characters were interesting to: the protangist raz, to his girlfriend lili, to the psychonauts themselves. Even the villians were a interesting change from being evil to just be evil. Overall this game is a cult-classic and a great hidden gem to play i rate this game 9/10 because the mechanics seemed like they could have been a little more refined and I didnt like the point of no return stuff but maybe thats just me. Well what are you waiting for get it and play it.

I'm not very articulate when it comes to explaining why I like the things I do. This game is no exception but ill give my best shot.

This game is by far firmly seated in my #1 favorite game I have ever played. Sure it has its flaws, its gameplay is a bit sluggish, it has no replay value, the lv design is a tad unorthodox to say the least, and the camera is pretty bad at times, but what it does have is truly a 1 of a kind experience that I probably won't ever relive flaws and all.

Just play it, its cheap and you won't forget it.

This game makes me miss my PS2. This 3D puzzle platformer from Double fine is joyous, the controls are tight, the combat is fun, and the art is good. This game took a decent amount of time to finish, considering it's price, and had fantastic writing. A controller is highly recommended, as there are some precision platforming segments that can be difficult to do with only the eight digital WSAD directions. My only main gripes with this game is that some checkpoints can be placed in quite sadistic places, like near an enemy, and sometimes the camera will move itself into awkward angles. I totally recommend this for anyone who likes a good 3D platformer, even those with potatoes can run this game at lower settings too.

Psychonaughts is one of those fun games that never get old, however many times you play it. The story is a methodical journey into people's minds. The battlefield is the imagination. Lots of hidden secrets, hidden collectables and funny moments. Lots of funny moments.

This is an amazing game. It controls well, it has some fun special abilities, and it's like Inside Out in the sense that it deals with what goes on in people's minds in an entertaining way.

It's like the console adventure games I would play as a kid but for PC. The story is unique and I was hooked to the game from beginning to end. Even though it's old (2005), it's still a great game to play through any given weekend.
