The story and level design certainly are original, and it was fun to play. However, wonky controls and sometimes horrendous camera control bring the score down a couple notches. 10 hours of game play make it definitely worth the money though.

Psychonauts is one of the most challenging platformers I've ever played. Finding and collecting secrets completely changes the game, so take the time to explore the environment and really enjoy the picture that Psychonauts paints. Overall, the experience is rewarding and you simply won't find another game quite like it.

Psychonauts truly surprised me.
Having been recommended Psychonauts on a few occassions, I finally decided to give it a try.

First off it has to be noted that the game is nearly a decade old, and one must remember that while dealing with the clunky graphics. But beyond that, the art style and general gameplay is wonderful.

The game offers a classic platformer in a beautiful and unique visual style, that quickly goes from calm and peaceful to dark and gloomy. Initially the story starts off very much aimed towards children, but as the game progresses it becomes more about immaturity than childishness, and during certain parts of the game you might even find yourself wondering "Who is this game actually geared towards?!" (Spoilers: Madman stealing brains. Lots of kids burned to death. Suicidal/Sadistic/Murdering campmates. And more psychopathic nonsense.) The general story is humorous, surreal, cute, psychopathic, dark and immature, the tone of the game changes on a second's notice and takes you through dozens of surrealistic worlds, all with their unique charm and mood, much like the various characters you will meet throughout it.

It is by far one of my all-time favorite Double-Fine games.

Possibly my most favorite game from my childhood. It has great humor, and gameplay that you can really get a hold on, and the areas within the game i have never thought would be there, overall great game. Highly reccomended

This is easily my favourite Double Fine game, and that's saying a lot.
At its core this is a third person action adventure platform title, but such a dry description really does not do it justice.
It is happiness and nostalgia distilled into a quirky game about getting into people's minds, literally.

No generic fire level, ice level, jungle level.
Let's visits MINDS.

The mind of a war veteran.
The mind of a painter obsessed with bullfighting.
The mind of a faded actress.
THE MIND OF A SEA MONSTER.

A great story, a great cast, a great WORLD created for you to explore and discover.
Yes, the game has some balance issues, but most of these have been patched out for the Steam release (especially difficulty balancing in the last world).
It's a great game that I totally recommend.

Honestly, the best game of its kind.

It has some of the wittiest and most amusing story lines ,dark and mature mixed with tragedy that will take you by surprise.
Beautiful visual design, great mix of colors and nicely put together levels that will remind you of Tim Burton's films.
Voice acting & dialogues are excellent as you would come to expect with Tim Schafer produced games.
Fun combat & platforming mechanics, they serve their purpose but are nothing ground breaking and some of the segments can overstay their welcome slightly.
One part i found was annoying was that you have to grind for money to purchase an item to progress further, which interrupts the pacing somewhat.

All in all a great title which is sadly overlooked by people. Highly recommend to any one who likes FUN.
